I went to Yongsan on the weekend, what an awesome little place. I only found one copy of the game, an Asian version, and they were asking for 100,000 won. I searched around and annoyed the hell out of the guy so he dropped it down to 98,000. >.>

I heard they are going to get new shipments this week so looks like I will try again next weekend. Don't bother going to either Technomart or Yongsan until then.

That aside, anyone else discover 'little Amsterdam' while you were there? Only 80,000 too? Maybe I can get a 5 minute express discount...

Wow what a crook.

I've been playing this game here and there over the weekend and I'm already done 13%. Apparently it takes only about 30 hours to finish. I tried the multiplayer mode and was surprised at the non-lag.

Very impressive but kind of disappointed that you can't fly airplanes like in San Andreas (would love to fly one of those big jumbo jets!). Also, it's best to maximize the brightness in the settings as it gets really annoying trying to move around in the dark at night.

Takes longer than 30 hours to complete it properly.

30 hours is only about 60% of it done.

That IMO isn't finished

Hi lads,
I have a quick question about GTA IV:
1) I have a PS3 from Hong Kong, always plays any games or dvds I put I it, including games from Hong Kong and Ireland, no problem.
2) I have a copy of GTA IV from Ireland (that's the PAL version).
3) I have a regular TV, fairly new but not HD (it's an LG "Artvision" to be precise).
4) When I try to play the GTA IV, the game loads up and everything appears fine, and in fact the game is "playing" (I can hear the music and the dialogue), but the picture is in black and white, and is rotating on the screen from top to bottom, which means it is unplayable.
5) As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating.

I reckon this means I need a HD TV.
But why is it that my other games (PES 2008, Fight Night etc) work fine on my TV?
And, most importantly, any advise about my cheapest option for buying a television that will allow this game to work? Second-hand would be fine.
Thanks in advance.

Being that the game is a PAL version, and Korea uses the NTSC system, this makes it right that you can't see a picture, only hear sound. I'm not sure if there are tv's that have the duo switch of pal/ntsc. Anyone know?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I didn't make it clear: I can see the picture, it's in black and white and moving on the screen.
From what I've read, I think I need HDTV.
Maybe I could get some cable that would either:
1) convert the picture to work on my TV
2) use the screen of my laptop (HP Pavillion dv8000)
Any advice?
Thanks again.

It's in PAL.

Here it's NTSC - that is why it's not working.

As said by the previous poster

Options are to either buy a NTSC copy or to get an HDTV where the signal doesn't matter.

You can buy a 24in monitor with HDMI/Component in for around 350k or so.

Thanks for the reply.
The NTSC version: do you know is that a Korean language version, or is it also in English? And is it available in Yongsan?
Thanks again for all your help

Thanks that's great news. I'll see if it's available this weekend.
Maybe they'll give me some exchange credit for my mint-condition PAL copy, unless there's someone out there who might be interested in it?

Boy is the multi-player quite addictive! I went on at 11:00 p.m. last night and finished at 1:30 a.m. Considering I had to get up at 6:00 a.m. meant it had to be good. The cops and robbers game I really like, though the one time I did do GTA Race it was fun too.
What really gets me is "Free Mode' which is fun but then people start joining forces, to which I responded "Well if we're going to play teams then we should do Team Deathmatch". Anyway all in all a very fun experience. I still have to figure out where the hell the helicopters are though.

Thanks for that superdave, but the version for sale is the same European PAL version that I have.
Does anyone know whether the Korean NTSC version (for PS3) is censored like the Australian version?
Thanks for all your advice.
