Looking to upgrade to ~Surround Sound/Home Theater~ for my smallish apt. For gaming and watching movies. Want wall mounted wireless solution, 5.1 1080p optical connection. Budget not more than 500,000. Any suggested help greatly appreciated. |

What part of it do you want to be wireless? As in the rear speakers?
1080p is a video spec. The hi-rez audio (DTS-MA) only works over HDMI, and optical is locked-out from it.
Personally, I think you should up your budget and get a system you can keep for a decade. |

Yeah that looks good. Is it wireless rear?
Also, need a sound card and like this one. But, it's 230,000 here.
Also, wonder if it's possible to wall mount those speakers. I have the room for them but mounting them would be optimal.

You're trying to use a computer with it? Well, i'd think about anything with an optical out would work. Not sure if that system has an optical input, though. I'll try to figure it out.
Those are wifi speakers for rears, but I doubt they could be mounted. They are on their own stands.
That system comes with the DVD player and amp all in one. |

The USA versions of those systems do have optical input.
Ah, I read the Korean... it does have digital input. The more expensive one looks much better.

I'd be a bit wary of wireless speakers. I haven't had any myself, but I have read many are plagued by bad sound and interference.
Just something to double check with before you make the purchase. |

Now for the icing on the cake. I was able to find a code on the internet to make this player region free. The code was meant for another Samsung player but worked with this one too- so I am now able to watch DVDs I purchased in Hong Kong and the UK- Sweet!!!
To make your player region free (and I think any other Samsung DVD player region free) follow the instructions below (you need to follow the instructions exactly, else it won't work).
1. Remove disc from tray.
2. Switch off player and unplug from mains.
3. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect mains.
4. Turn on player with remote. Wait for player to finish loading and display 'no disc'.
5. Press enter on remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
6. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 on the remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
7. Press enter on the remote. Player will automatically shut off.
8. Turn player on.
9. Turn off.
10. Turn player on then off again.
11. Player is now region-free. |

The sound card might have driver issues in Vista 64.
Something you need to look into. |

I have the yamaha TSS-15
http://itempage3.auction.co.kr/DetailView.aspx?ItemNo=A505914656&frm2=through
It's small, sounds alright, isn't expensive, has two optical and one coax digital input, one analogue input...
It's more than loud enough for my 25 pyeong place. It's not wireless though.. but the wires are long and thin - easy to run.
Sound card? Any cheap soundcard with an optical out will do - all those sound cards do is pass the digital data along, so there's actually no difference between cheap and expensive cards on an optical out (the expense lies in amplification and processing which you offload using the digital out). Get one with the envy24 chipset - should be about 30,000. |

Optical out has to be capable of passing a Dolby Digital lie and DTS signal. not all soundcards with the optical outs are capable of this. |
