Whatever, dude. You lived in Korea for how many years and still don't know the difference between doenjang and ssamjang?
That's pathetic. Did you ever leave your apartment while you were here? |
When did your life go off the rails, exactly? |

Enough with the diverting questions, Mr. Politician. Own up.
1) Why did you ask for doenjang (dwengjang, lolz) when you claim to know what ssamjang is?
2) What's with the jodhpurs? |

| Just to clarify, you're saying the waitress would've known what ssamjang is, right? |

You're all very intelligent people. Stop trying to out do each other in the Korean sauce department, it's a bit sad.
If you really want to impress everyone at least move on and argue about lettuce varieties. |

**update**
I went to a meat restaurant last night (galbi)..
Asked for doenjang and the girl looked VERY confused. She then asked if I meant jjegae. |

If you're not in Korea and you know the staff isn't Korean perhaps the correct phrase would be "bean paste dip please".
By the way, doenjang and galbi sounds nasty. Try using ssamjeong or the less thick gochujeong. |

| 된장 is awesome with anything. I'm completely addicted to it. My friend's friend's mom makes her own, it's amazing! She minces hot peppers and puts them in. I think of it like Korea's cheese. |

| Doenjeong is bean paste. If you alter it then its probably samjeong. |

Samjeong is bascially dwengjang and gochujang mixed together.
A lot of places will just use dwengjang, and mix together minced garlic and the spicy green chili peppers instead of mixing it with gochujang.
I think the spicy green chili peppers is called "chunyoung goju". They are usually smaller than the mild chili peppers. |

| I want to stir this up again. All of you mental giants are saying that SAM(3) jang is made of dwenjang and gochujang, does anyone else know the other ingredient? For the record, I don't know. But I have been told that the name comes from it being made by putting 3 pastes or sauces together. For the record, I often get dwenjang served as the dipping sauce for the hot peppers that you get at a galbi place. They are all different. |

Correct, which is why mindmetoo's requst would have been understood by a Korean. |
