What does a "home country" CRC involve? We American folk can just get a online one, right? That's all I used the first time. |

I've just renewed my contract. Had a bit of a heart attack when my Supervisor told me that I needed the crim check before the contract could be given (3 weeks before expiry). Being British it takes 40 days. I did submit a crim check to them last year after I took the job. As it turns out the Office of Education for my PS want the health check and crim check. All immigration wants is passport, ARC, notice of appointment and a copy of the signed contract.
I'll just sort out my crim check (without notarising) when I go home and it arrives here. So there is no hurry with them.
Heart attack over! I doubt this'll be across the board in Korea. Some immigration will ask for it some might not. |

"home country" CRC = local police, state, & federal (FBI) CRC. Don't forget to apostille. |

If you have submitted a CRC and received a public school position with a letter of appointment issued by a POE then you may be exempted from the CRC for a renewal / extension of your contract.
IF you were hired with a visa confirmation number (for a hakwon or PS) BEFORE December 15th, 2007 or did a renewal / extension BEFORE March 15th, 2008 you WILL need a CRC for your next visa/extension/renewal.
IF you were hired (new visa) AFTER Dec. 15, 2007 then you have already submitted your CRC to immigration and do NOT have to do it again.

Tom is the man, but my POE wants this for renewals, and a local check, not one from the homeland.
Of course, if they screw up I'll just take an extended vacation in September/October and then just come on back. |

It was probably a case of 'lost in translation' with the supervisor. She's new. I'll order it when I go home for my mid contract break in a couple of weeks, and then give it to them when it arrives in Korea.
It's probably easier in PS to do this. I would have thought they have a bit more sway when it comes visas and bending the rules slightly than a Hagwon would.
They will probably forget all about it. Never mind though. |

what is your "home country" when you are a permanent resident of another and have lost your state residency. I have only taken short visits back to the states in the last 21 years
NO, THE IMMIGRATION REFUSED TO ACCEPT MY extention APPLICATION WITHout THE CRC

It's the country that issued your passport. |

I think a whole lot of people who don't think this applies to them are going to be surprised when they try to renew their visas. |
