Hey everybody,

I'm new to Korea, and right now I've got a big empty apartment in Dangsandong. Is there an E-mart, Lotte Mart, or any other one of those big Korean Marts near the station? Where do you find all this furniture that I keep hearing is just laying around? Please help the new guy!

Cheers!

Your apartment doesn't include a bed, fridge, gas burner range, and the basic fixings? Isn't it standard to get a furnished apartment?

When I arrived, I only needed laundry soap, dish soap, and food.

I did see furniture laying around on occassion, but it's not all the time they have bulk pickup.

I've got the basics, and a bed and TV now. My place is pretty large though, and I want to get a desk and couch to fill it up a bit. Any thoughts on HomeEver or Lotte Mart, or whatever else they have here?

Maybe you could write what city you are in so people are more likely to help you.

The free furniture is next to the recycling area in the apartment complexes...just wander around from complex to complex and you'll find everything you need. Our apartment is filled with really great stuff...you do have to be patient though. Take what you find for now and then just upgrade as you find better stuff further along. Especially if you see a moving truck in your complex you should check the recycling area that afternoon or evening, that's when you'll find the best stuff.
