I think that was just a continuity error. |
disagree - he's not dead. |

we dont know that jin is or isnt dead. they didnt really give clear indication. maybe he made it to a raft, or maybe jumped ship before the explosion, or otherwise somehow survived it. they couldnt stick around to look for him because they were low on fuel
but the money thing doesnt matter, because that took place just after they got married, long before they ever came to the island
if the won was re-designed after 2004, then like another poster said, it's a continuity error. |

He can be alive still and it be a continuity error. I'm just pointing out if you're thinking the won irrefutably sets the panda incident post island then you haven't considered it was simply an error on the part of props department. |

Hah! I knew it was John! His alias, Jeremy Bentham was philosopher/social reformer from the 1700's who fought to end slavery and promoted freedom of expression.
This ep was sloppy and generally a big let down for me. That stupid wheel Ben used to move the island looked, and moved, like a prop for a grade school play.
Also, a helicopter losing fuel would not have that much forward movement when going down. And, as someone said, freezing the electric current on the battery would be the same as disconnecting it.
The 'new won' has been declared a continuity error by the producers.
Some good zingers in there though...
"You just killed a whole lot of people on that boat."
"So?"
haha. |

I'm stuck with no way forward.
Can someone link a good stream of episode 9?
It seems the sites I've been using just link the free ABC showing of it, inaccessible outside the U.S. |

isohunt.com should work
I liked the episode. I did like Ben's answer to Locke: "So?" It was classic Henry Gale shit.
I hope Jack goes nuts, kidnaps all the survivors and forces them to go back to the island. Jack would make a great bad buy.
Son's gonna side with Whitmore.
Ben's gonna kill Penny.
Desmond's gonna kill Ben.
Whitmore will find the island and breed polar bears for profit. |

Ha ha!
Called it, and, called it!
The island is a vehicle influenced by some sort of space/time travel anomalies, a-la Sphere. In fact, the more I analyze the story the more Sphere-like it becomes.
In Sphere, people's worst nightmares could be manifested in the real world. In Lost, these manifestations appear as ghosts.
Almost certainly the "island" will have moved to some remote location such as Antarctica in the next season (see: polar bear). That would be a nice twist. The jungle locale has been done, and done, thanks to Survivor. |

I was thinking along the same lines... Ben was moved into the future (albeit to Tunisia)... so why not the island...
What I do get is the whole Claire "Don't bring him back" protest bit...
As others have mentioned.. a lot ot discuss... (Charlotte has been there before.. hmmm) but overall, I still expected more "oomph"...

I got to say a great scene was where Ben was filling the chamber with metal and Locke was watching the video where the candle guy warned "don't put any metal in the chamber". And Locke is kind of like "ummmm".
The Casimir Effect I wasn't sure where they were going with that. It's something to do with putting two plates near each other in a vacuum and energy that spontaneously gets created. Doesn't really have anything to do with time travel. |

That means the island was eventually entirely covered in water (in the future), which, considering how high the mountains on it are, would have to be billions of years into the future, meaning that anyone who survived the journey (somehow) now lives billions of years in the future in Gwandwanaland II!! |

The Casimir Effect has a lot to do with electromagnetism and forces of attraction of objects on either sides of a physical barrier. It probably figures into the hatch mechanism and that chamber in the Orchid station... a function of how they actually accomplish time travel. |

who thinks jin is still alive, raise your hand
~raises hand~
which i believe is why sun looked up widmore. she believes jin is still alive. they never got a chance to reallly look for him, and he wasnt right next to the explosion. i'm betting faraday finds him. what happens beyond that, i dont know
michael's dead. clare, too. her charlie are doing the afterworld bump.
so we got julia and sawyer on the beach, rose and bernard, locke and the others, a smattering of redshirts, charlotte and miles, and a bunch of dead rambo-wannabe's still on the island. and we still dont know what the smoke monster is, whats the deal with the three toed statue, why libby was in the nuthouse with hurley, or why the one "other" never ages, along with a buncha other stuff. and what about those freakin numbers?
love this show |

Yes, good question. Assuming Faraday and the few in the Zodiac hadn't reached the boat yet, they would be able to pick up survivors from the explosion. Once they started drifting (that little Zodiac engine wouldn't hold much gas), where would they end up? And why wouldn't they have made contact with the outside world after three years? Surely Jin would have contacted Sun to let her know he's alive. Perhaps they are living on another remote island, hiding from Whidmore?
More puzzling, and intriguing, is a quote from Ben to Whidmore a few episodes back. He said "You know I can't do that" when Whidmore asked if Ben was going to kill him. Now why would Ben say he couldn't kill Whidmore? My guess is that at Ben and Whidmore have both seen the future, and Ben knows that Whidmore will (a) save his life at some point in the future or (b) Whidmore will be instrumental in preserving or protecting the island in the future.
Clare may be dead, but how and why? Did the island simply absorb her? Did the smoke monster get her?
Ah yes, and bringing Mr. Echo back into the game was a master stroke! One of the most interesting and enigmatic sequences in the entire series was Mr. Echo meeting his "brother", who then mocked him and claimed not to be his brother! STRANGE. Immediately after, he was eliminated by the smoke monster. If Ben controls the smoke monster, does he also have the ability to control apparitions? |
