Anybody know anything about this town and/or this university? I only know it has a little less than a million people and is 1.5-2 hours south of Seoul.
How about the school's rep? expat community, etc? |

ChungBuk has a good rep as a decent quality uni. Is this about a job offer? The conditions and pay will differ depending on whether you'll be working as a 'proffessor' or in the Unigwon. To be fair, I've heard some fairly negative things abot the Unigwon side with low pay and long hours.
I've lived in CheongJu for years. I find it a nice little town. It's close to Seoul and has a decent expat community. There are quite a few western bands based here and Seoul based bands are often tempted down for gigs. |

Zeppelin is correct. It is not Seoul, but for a smaller town, it has it's charms and isn't far from the bigger Daejeon as well as some great outdoors. |

I lived in Cheongju. After living in Bundang, I don't know how or why I lived in Cheongju; it's such a hick town. And if you like beautiful women, go closer to Seoul. But I wasn't paying attention; maybe you're a straight female.
Cheongju has a lot of nice restaurants; that's for sure, but other than that? I don't know what's so great about Cheongju. It feels like it's at least 10 years behind the times than Seoul. |

The offer is not in the English department or the hagwon or the education department; sorry, I forgot to mention that. |

Awesome.
There's also a cracking hof in Cheongju that gives you curry-flavoured popcorn as snack, and a little belter of a samgyeopsal place with gravel as a floor.
The yeogwans are a bit hard to find after a night out, though. |

Is that the place on the Chung-dae strip? It's not too far from that overrated, run-down pa-jon place that everyone goes to? |

Heresy, Samni does one of the finest bits of pajeon on the ROK, even if it looks like a holdover from the war. And yes, it is. The kimchi is only surpassed by the surlishness of the adjuma who runs it. |

If you go outside, make a left, then make another left, you'll see the worst bathroom in Korea. It's literally a hole in the wall. No light, no door, just a small entrance with a hole in the ground. Pretty tripped out. |

Can't believe I'm missing all the fun in this thread. One of my fondest memories of Korea came one night in the aforementioned gravel-floor samgyupsal hut. Watching FranklyMrShankly stand up and cup a moth in his hands and usher it out the door, all the while being cheered on by a dozon or so pink-shirt clad pufts who were squealing like little girls at the site of the thing. Ah, the memories.
And Sam-Mi Padjon IS the best padjon in the country. For serious. |
