FREE BOOK EXCHANGE !!!
There is a free book exchange in downtown Seoul once a month on the
2nd SUNDAY.
You can bring as many or as few books as you like and take as many as you want. We have a large selection but mostly novels - biographies and histories are in short supply. We'd love to see more of these genres.
The next exchange will take place DECEMBER 14TH from 2 to 4 pm. Please tell all your friends, co-workers, strangers, enemies - we don't care who comes so long as they bring a fresh supply of FREE reading material.
Directions follow:
Get off at City Hall Subway, take the exit leading to the British Embassy and walk past the first street on the left and take the 2nd. Walk up with the Church on your left and you'll see a driveway to a car park on the right. We are the next building on the right. You'll see signs on the windows about learning English. Go in and take the stairs at the back on the right - go up one flight and follow the noise around to the right.
If you are coming from the Gwanghwamun subway or the bus stops near the Sejong Cultural Centre or the American Embassy go to the Koreana Hotel, pass it and the driveway to their car parking and then take the lst street on the right and follow the directions as above.
I'll look forward to seeing you all if you can make it.
If you can't make this month but would like an email reminder of future events please pm me with your email address and I'll add you to the list

Is it the same place as before? Could you be a bit more specific in regard to the building name?
Cheers!

It's called the Taesong Building but it's really not hard to find. As you go up the street with the church on your left it's the first building on the right that you can enter. It's just opposite the entrance to the convent at the end of the Church complex. The entrance to the convent is done up in a traditional Korean style doorway set in a very western style red brick building but it looks really neat.
Our building also has a neon sign for LTRC English and lots of printed English signs on the windows about studying English.
Hope everyone can find it - any suggestions from those who've been before to make it easier to find appreciated. I think I've done all I can to make it clear but help is always appreciated
Look forward to seeing lots of new faces. |

Out of curiosity, do you care what kind of books or is it related to English Teaching stuff ? I have a dozen or so that I brought with me to Korea and they are not your standard literature -- science based, but interesting nonetheless, not educational in nature ... whatever that means. |

i go to these exchanges whenever i can and am pretty open to what kind of book(s) i'll be leaving with. if i saw a book such as you describe "science based, but interesting nonetheless, not educational in nature", i'd be interested, especially if it had color illustrations (love those biology textbooks)! |

Yea, I brought some of my old medical school books and such that I use still while writing papers and the like. But I have a dozen or so books about the origin of universe, theoretical physics, and other vaguely related topics ... thing is, they are easily understood by people without that formal education -- such as myself. They are great.
Maybe I'll lug them to the exchange rather than toss 'em |

Most of the books are novels; drama, romance, detective mystery, but we have a few other kinds. We are always interested in expanding our base to please all readers. We'd love more history - both fictional and non-fictional - and we do have lots of prize winning novels but they go so quickly that we could use lots more of them as they are very popular.
I personally love science fiction but there are very few that turn up. I can't work out if people who like this genre keep their books or if I am one of the few people here who like them.
Anyway, please come and bring all and any books that you have around.
This will be the last chance for any FREE books for the holidays.
I look forward to seeing lots of new faces as well as all the old ones.
I'll have a cake for Christmas so come and join us. |
