About a month ago, I was stumbling home from Hongdae, leggy model in tow, when between 50 to 100 motorbikes and scooters ran up the main road toward Sinchon like idiomatic bats out of hell.
Youth gone wild, one ruffian grabbed my date's jacket -- perhaps hoping to snatch her purse, which, modern-day eunich that I am, I was safely holding -- and nearly pulled her to the ground.
Angered (and it takes a lot to vex Momma Sparkles's son), I considered sticking out a foot in hope that one of these wayward youths, who shouted all manner of obscenities at me and my virtuous fuck-buddy and were probably high on peyote, would crash into a pleasegodidontwannadieididntreallymeanitiwasjustfoolingaround sign, but the idea of committing 2nd-degree murder, and the likeliness of mangling my foot, held me back.
Anyway, who else has seen this abject horde of cock scum? |

I see large groups of them between Apgujeong and Cheongdam Stations every once in awhile. |

There used to be (maybe still there for all I know) a gang of "bikers" at Hangang Park by Icheon subway station. They were bothering the locals with the sounds of their "hogs" late into the night. I rememeber a scuffle between them and a local ajosshi from the apartment overlooking where they were gathered.
It was a nightly occurance. As usual, cops did squat. |

I usually see them zipping through crosswalks, zigging and zagging on their metrosexual-rainbowized-madmaxed, xmas stringed-out, scooters and cycles in groups of 6-20...
Fukkin' can't stand seeing them...mostly because they are both dangerous, and look so ridiculous...
I can't adequately express in words the feeling of disgust as I hear and see them coming, but it is sorta like when Piggy dies in lord of the flies, but were it at the hands of a Kpop boy band....
I saw a program about a month ago where cops were actually trying to take down some of the passing horde...one frustrated cop had what appeared to be a spike belt/chain and whipped it toward the tires and took one out...
I peed alittle in my boxers I was so filled with joy - to see not only a cop really do something for a change, but the mommy dressed, girlfriend shirt wearing skidmark wipeout with 2 other neon stick waving imbeciles was truly the highlight of my Korean televison viewing experience to date. |

These 'gangs' have been making the Korean news for years now. They meet and drive around like a-holes, getting a rush out of showing off.
It's a meat grinder of a culture here. Breaking traffic laws and driving 'dangerously' gives them something that they can look back on after they become dentists and salary men and say, 'Wow...ooooh...we were crazy!'
There are stupid young people in every culture. Whatever gets ya laid. |

I think I'd have a really hard time keeping a straight face around the little Mo-ped/scooter queens.
Walk softly, and carry a big stick. |

I'd say that unless you're packing some heat and lots of ammo, you prolly don't want to fuck with any of them...unless of course you enjoy being gang raped along with your date. |

Well if the size of the men's knobs at the gym are anything to go by they won't even get past the first two inches of my cheeks |

Plenty of those types of gangs in Taiwan. In Taiwan (at least when I was there) the biggest motor you could get was 150cc. They look ridiculous, but they are very dangerous. They carry melon knives which are kind of like skinny width machetes.
I remember a taxi driver got cut up badly because he accidently bumped someones bike on a crowded road. |

My friend who's a member of a motorcycle club said that on 3-1 day it's common for them to drive around defacing things in a kind of anti-patriotic display, and that some adult biker clubs patrol around trying to stop them.
I can't say I've seen any like that around Daegu. |

I'm surprised some of you long timers haven't caught on to this tradition. It happens every year when high school students celebrate passing some academic test.
Some just use it as an excuse to drive like nuts.
And, the police do take it seriously. I've seen them set up a road block to force the bikes down a side street where they all smash into a net.
I kid you not. |

I've never seen it happen, but I generally tend to live in smaller towns. The worst I usually see is some ajuma trying to cut in line at the grocery or something. |
