It's driving me insane. It's non-stop, by students and (incredibly) teachers alike. I've tried for nine months to teach the kids (and by extension) other teachers that door slamming is unnecessary and unacceptable. But to no avail. I'm constantly subjected to the dreadful sound at school, then I get to go home and listen to my neighbours slam their doors. Shocked
Every time a co-teacher (or any teacher) enters or leaves my classroom she slams the doors. How the hell am I supposed to train the kids not to do it when their teachers all do it. All the teachers on my floor constantly slam their doors. I leave the school stressed almost every day. I hate it.

It drives Korean teachers nuts too.
I get more irrate from having to dodge students who run around, and don't watch where they are going.

If people want to slam the door that's their prerogative. If you don't want to slam the door, then don't. Why would anyone be bothered by a door slam. Are you high strung nervous type that stresses over nonchalant things.

You need to put those small rubber "feet" inside, between the door and the jamb. It doesn't stop the noise, but it does reduce it to a rubberized thud from a metal-on-metal slam.

I like slamming doors. With earplugs it's an extreme sport.

Get a car, transport some Koreans and a sleeping baby.
The door slamming at school is tame after that.

Go to a school that does not have these evil "constant doors."

i understand where ur coming from about that. i yell at my students for slamming the doors. and when they do slam the doors, i tell them to get out, come back in, then shut the door properly.

i also remember seeing one of the korean teachers i was working with throwing the journals back to her students instead of calling them up to get them, handing them to the students herself or giving it to another student to pass back.

just made me shake my head.

At least they're shutting the doors. I wish both the students and the other teachers at my school would adopt the habit of closing doors.

I find that if the windows on both sides of the classroom are open it creates a sort of vacuum (?) that causes the door to slam harder than usual. Many times this slamming takes the students by surprise too! I've made it a game to be the only one in the classroom who isn't bothered by the slamming door. you can try closing some of your windows and see if that helps.

I hate the door slamming too. It is one of my pet peeves. Yesterday one of my students showed up late for class. Of course he just walks in and doesn't close the door. I tell him to close the door. He thinks the means using his foot to slam the door hard. I just kicked up him out of class. The kid spent all of maybe 10 seconds in class.
