There you have it - the short version. We've already gotten our tickets (flying out July 1st), are making the pet-shipping arrangements, and found buyers for about everything we want to sell. The last thing to do now is see people off - and our friends here at Dave's have been a big part of that over the past 6 years (Christina) & 10 years (Glen).

there will be 3 chances/opportunities, if you'd like to catch up with us in person:

1) We had already planned the last of the Sanbon Suburban Rooftop Sessions parties for this Saturday, the 7th. We will post up info/directions for anyone interested tomorrow morn - but if you are free, and think you can find Geum-jeong Station (or however the govt. is officially spelling it these days), you are welcome. Weather permitting, we plan on BBQing, and having the DJ decks & such set up on the roof. Pool is probably NOT an option this time. Will probably run from early afternoon til the bricka-bricka. Come help us kill our bar!

2) We are planning an overnight at the YoungChon hotel in Songtan on either the 20th or 21st. We realize, due to Uni schedules, a bunch of people will be gone by then. But we love Songtan, and the BBQ & swim-outside-until-midnite options.

3) We are currently discussing the possibility of a rooftop party, *OR* meeting people in Seoul on Friday, the 13th. We could do the old-skool Dave's Get-Together, in whatever part of town suits the most people (there's been a lot of Hyehwa/Schinchon banter thrown around of recent) - late afternoon drinks, dinner, & bar-hop after, if it suits you all. Or, just have the lot of you over to our place here in Sanbon.

#1 and #2 WILL happen. #3 depends on how much interest is generated. It le sux that we will miss seeing some of our friends, like Tiger, but we will carry on in the best of fashion.

So please bump this as it is needed. Feel free to post here, PM, or call either of us if you need any more info. Even if you don't know us, you are still welcome. That's just pretty much how we are. Laughing

Regards,

gajackson1 & reedtea

G & C,

As I said on the phone...Mr. & Mrs. Ryst will be there (with gang in tow) WHATEVER the date for Songtan may be.

That evening, night, early morn, and daylight shall be most memorable.

Will make reservations for 6~10 @ YCH manana...

As for a 13th Seoul Dave's thingy...that is doable as there are at least 2 events where KOTESOLers (and others) will be about on the 14th (me included).

!shoosh,

Ryst

Ok, directions & a general map up to our place this afternoon, after I get back here.

Feedback is already looking good for something on the 13th, as well - we'll just need to open it up & see what people would like to do. Nice for the KOTESOL set, as well.

G.

Ok, first - lets start with the directions for Sat -

I'll give the subway stuff. If anyone wants/needs driving directions, let us know.

The closest station to us is Geum-jung, where Line 4 & Line 1 meet in southern Seoul. Get to Geum-jung, and go out/down Exit 6. Just to your left will be a bus stop & taxi stand.

You can jump in a cab, and tell the driver 'ship-sam dan-jee, gok ran joong hak-gyo.' That will get you pretty much here - just call Christina or myself.

Or, (a little better), get onto the #2 or #3 bus (same-same). You will take a right turn, go through a big 4-way intersection. From that intersection, you should go down 3 bus stops - the one you want is 'gae-na-ree ah-par-tuh ship-sam dan-jee ho-moon.'

Get out there, and turn to your left. We are the 4th building on the right side of the street - the 21 Century Tae-kwon-do Building. Go around to the back & up the stairs to the 3rd floor or the roof.

People are welcome from any time after 1pm. We will have some food, a fair bit of booze, a BBQ grill & full kitchen. There are stores VERY close, as well as a butcher shop. The weather is SUPPOSED to be nice as of now, so people tend to drift towards the roof.

Normally, mods would remove phone numbers - but this is a special case. (Since Christina deleted her list of saved numbers on accident) -

Christina: 011.9128.0566

Glen: 018.376.7370

Come early, stay late, eat when you are hungry, reminisce, have fun. Please do NOT bring us gifts! (unless you have, say, a CD of pics to share) - we are trying to get rid of stuff, not collect more! lol! DO feel free to pass this along, and bring whoever you like - there WILL be Koreans here, as well - it is always a mixed, very coolish crowd. Smile

As of right now, I do not know 100% if we are setting up DJ decks or not - that part is up in the air, but we are hoping.

now, for Bass & CLG ~

Bass, the short, fast, dirty answer is that Christina has a seriously ill family member - cancer, not long - and she's finishing up her semester to go back home, while still finishing up her spring semester duties.

The longer answer is that we were planning on leaving this year after her contract anyway - we're pulling up stakes for Brunei, after looking into some other opportunities. We are ready for some changes, and have gone about as far as an unmarried, non-Korean partnered, non-supawealthy couple can go in Korea. Brunei will provide the next few years of 'steps,' with possibilities for Malaysia or other (multiple) homesteads in SEAsia to follow.

As we've mentioned in other threads & to other friends, we have finally hit a 'wall' in Korea, that we can't get around. And that is ok - we have made good use of the time, and GREAT friends while here. As well as met each other. Very Happy

CLG - we will be missing a lot of people! Some of them, we will be able to catch for lunch or dinner over the next few weeks. For a lot of them, we will just have to try to take vacation-trips to visit people. In fact, we have plans to go visit Denz, Mi-hwa (and their new baby boy) in Oz, and other trips in our free time.
