So I've been doing a little reading on the F-4 Visa, and was wondering if anyone knew if I would be eligible for one say, right now, or within a year or so.

I'm half korean/white, 24 years old.

My Father is a U.S. citizen who was sent to Korea in the military where he met my mother.

My mother is currently a U.S. Citizen but she held a Korean citizenship before meeting my father and getting married, along with her whole side of the family.

I was born in Arizona.

Is the F-4 Visa something I should be looking into a bit more or am I not eligible?

(Sorry, my search feature is a bit messed up, due to posting on a proxy from work. And now it looks like I may have posted in the wrong forum, if there's a mod available to move it to the Travel forum, I'd greatly appreciate it.)

You're eligible for the F4. You definitely want to get an F4. I suggest you don't come here on an E2. It's too much hassle to bring over the right documents to Korea and make such visa change.

Your mother needs to renounce her Korean citizenship for you to get your F4.

Wow thats funny. You sound kinda like me. I'm also half korean/white and my parents also met the same way yours did. And i was also born in Arizona. Weird coincidence huh? Were you born on a base near sierra vista by any chance? haha.

Anyways yes you can get the F4. It's not hard to get. Just make sure you get all your documents organized. Also I do think that your mother has to be a U.S. citizen now like a previous poster said.

I've had my visa for awhile and also had no problems renewing it.

Ah yeah, I briefly glanced over all the stickies I could find, but they all seemed to be pretty old. :X

Was wondering if there were any guideline changes that would make it either easier or harder for me to try and get an F-4 Visa before going to Korea.

But it looks like things just may work out for me! Very Happy

So.. I've never really traveled before, and I was wondering is it possible to have the F-4 Visa for Korea, and still continue to live in the U.S. until I am financially ready to make the move? Or is the F-4 Visa something you get when you are planning on leaving and staying in Korea? (Wondering if I should start gathering up all the documentation, even though I don't plan to go to Korea for another couple years or so.)

I'm half-Korean and I have the F-4 visa....

There are a lot of documents involved so its best to get an early start. Your mother will need a lot of documents from Korea.

best of luck!
