In Bogey's world, every day is Misogyny Day.
(Yoja, damn, awesome post.) |
Agreed. Everytime I read a post by Bogey, I vomit a little in my mouth. It's great to be shallow! That's what men should be like. We only care about the way women are naked. If we are unhappy with the way a woman looks, we will grab their excess flesh. *pumps on chest in a manly way* |
well keep on vomiting my friend. Maybe it would be more useful for you to feel this way when you look into a mirror? shouldn't a person give at least SOMEWHAT of a damn re how she/he looks? or not?
does this indicate something or does it not? that would be an interesting discussion.
and re physical beauty and otherwise and how I deal with it.
make whatever assumptions you'd like, they are likely to be very very wrong.
I'll take a fun, happy go lucky, woman with a great personality that is a 7 over a spoiled annoying bitchy 9 or 10 every day of the week and Sunday.
in fact, I don't even bother with the very beautiful, because I know I don't want to deal with the bullshit that comes with.
Every person has different rules and lines in the sand re "attraction" and some people are more sensitive to weight than other (just like others are more sensitive to other things.. remember Eddy Murphy and his toe thing in that movie a while back?)
I simply happen to be more sensitive to weight than perhaps some others.
Doesn't mean these women are pariahs, it indicates nothing about them except that their weight/appearance would preclude ME (and only ME) from being romantically interested in them. (and it begs the question raised above - why did you allow yourself to blow up?)
btw. I'm actually curious about your weight descent due to Korean societal pressures. You make it sound like it's nothing you had to do.... the Koreans almost "forced it on you" (this is from the little I have read from you on the matter) but I'm curious how your self confidence is, your general health and well being since dropping the weight.
you sound almost resentful at having dropped the weight. I wonder why. |

I am curious what makes you think that either one of them would allow themselves to be "taken" by you...
(I realize this may seem incomprehensible, but not everyone shares your #1 criteria of finding a hottie with a naughty body--some ladies are also looking for a bit more substance and/or to be treated with perhaps a shred of respect.)
...but honestly, truly, I do hope that you are presented with the opportunity to find a suitable ladyfriend soon, as it just might be the one thing that could spare us from overexposure to your opinion.
Oh Bogey...it's been fun, but I think I'm done feeding the troll. Thanks for the good times, though!
Oh, and FYI, Sunday is, in fact, already included in the category "every day of the week." |

yeah duh.. it's an English "expression". Use it to teach culture in one of your Korean classes.
the women who have chosen to be with me have never ever complained about being treated with anything BUT respect, because I treat them almost too well but I appreciate your sentiments anyways.
and you are free to look for whatever you want.. just as I am.
My best friend who's a male already treats me with respect and "substance" (whatever that is exactly?? ), so what I am looking for in a woman is a little different, thanks. |

I am shallow so if a woman was really obese I wouldn't want to have sex with her. But when I was younger I was fat and women did not want to go near me. It is a sad obstacle but not totally insurmountable. Women like confidence, men do too. A fat guy who is witty and self deprecating can overcome the weight barrier. If a chubby girl is bubbly and outgoing then a man will overlook any issues with weight.
I think weight is less of an issue for men though so that is why some men here are a bit blunt about it. I think women are far harder on themselves than men are. So remember Gophers advice from earlier. Never discuss weight with a woman. Ever. I mean it. Never. Ever.
I have nothing against plump women though. In fact many women in Korea could do with getting some food down them. A bit of plumpness suggests a girl who likes food and drinking. A girl who is not uptight and likes to have fun.
Most men would rather be with a plump woman who likes to cook than a skinny diva who expects them to buy them dinner all the time.
By plump I mean Nigella Lawson. Yes she is getting a bit too plump these days but cmon most guys still would. She'd cook you a decent breakfast in the morning too. |

AGREED!
(believe it not! )
I do think it's amusing though that men get constantly pounded for being men.... this means they're more 'visual' when it comes to the opposite sex.
Women call this "being shallow".
Anthropologist sociologists call this "nature". Some authors call it "Women from Venus, Men from Mars"
etc
etc
I wish someone would do a study as to why Anglo-Canadians are far more likely to be fat than French Canadians. They're both Canadians, no? (btw.. French Canadian women are smoking hot... slim, fun, feminine... charming... sexy.. yowsa!)
also, there are some chubby and fat people all over the world and usually it's not that big a deal. However, only in the US (and perhaps Canada and now the UK and Germany) is there a loud "fat defense / apologist industry. I wonder why that is. Maybe because there are more REALLY REALLY fat people there than ever? (as doctors would agree)
my parents are from Europe and only in the US do they constantly make comments about the obesity/fatness they see. They're shocked by it.
To this very day.. and they've been in the US for almost 30 years. |

Yeah. That's my feeling. Women might lie about their weight but men misrepresent their height. |

indeed. Those are the two most common misrepresentations based on online dating ads and such.
now we should ask ourselves why.... and then connect the dots.
one dot is obvious - tall(er) men consistently scored near top or on top on almost any/every survey done with women on the (physical) qualities they seek in a man. |

I don't think there is a fat apologist industry. I don't think there is anything wrong with being fat.
Obese is different. If you are so big you are in danger of a heart attack, or if in extreme cases have to be airlifted out of your house then yes some weight loss is in order.
But unless the woman is grotesquely overweight then most men wont have a problem with her if she has a good personality.
I think we need to distinguish between fat and obese. Fat bottomed girls make the rockin world go round. |

This is a major fallacy in your thinking, if you believe that the only options are either not giving "at least SOMEWHAT of a damn" about their looks or grabbing excess flesh on your partner's body. It's not like your only two options are "shallow and rude" or "hideous and fat." Most of us manage to find some balance wherein we care about how we look to a reasonable point, we are attracted to certain types of people for whatever reasons, and yet we don't judge others, even -- especially -- our partners based on how much water weight they're holding onto on any given day.
I used to dance professionally (ballet) and even then, I don't think I thought about weight as much as you seem to. |

I do give a damn about how I look but it's not the only important factor in my life. You praise Koreans for their shallowness. It says a lot about your character. Women should only care about how they look naked. We see that. I applaud you. The only thing that matters is if a person isn't carrying a few pounds. If that's the most important thing in your life, so be it. A lot of people on this forum take pride in the same thing, so you have definitely found your niche.
Oh, and I look just fine in the mirror and I am completely happy with my appearance. I'm not in the dating scene and have been happily taken since Decemeber. Cheers. |

first of all I don't grab excess flesh.
that's what my father did with my mother.. he pinched her sides in a playful manner, and she knew damn well what he was up to. It wouldn't be a method I'd personally employ... and my father knows damn well my mother doesn't really need any reminders from him about her appearance.. she takes a fair amount of pride in her looks.(which is why aging has been tough on her recently) . but whatever works for them, eh?)
I don't judge others by how much water they might be holding on a given day.. but ignoring substantial much less drastic weight gain is another matter.
and Hank dear. I'm very happy you're taken and happy with your appearance. Now don't be like 75% of "taken people" and allow yourself to become a potato sack.
and stop mischaracterizing my positions. I didn't praise Koreans for being shallow. I said taking into account one's appearance, instead of basically ignoring it because that would be "shallow" I found praiseworthy.
given you've lost what.. 50 lbs? more? you should be very happy that the Koreans facilitated the los. 50 lbs is a huge amount of weight on almost any frame. Your doctors and your overworked heart and stressed out bone joints thank Korea

| The overweight epidemic in the US is getting short shrift because consumerism is what's causing it. Consumerism is good for business. |

that's a part of it, but merely a part.
it's the car driving culture... the fact people don't/can't even walk to the store anymore.. they have to drive to the mall.
and the fast paced work crazy lifestyle which encourages people to grab fast food.
Fast/crappy food plus sitting on your ass in car and at work = blowing up like a balloon. |
