I have lost both of my diplomas due to a fire before I moved accross the country. I had scanned my masters degree, but not my undergrad. According to my university, it will take up to 2 months to recieve a copy at a cost of 75 usd a piece. I am trying to get a position starting in August. How can I deal with this situation? Everything else should be obtainable quickly. Thank you in advance.

Is there a way to speed up the process at the university? Maybe calling the company that does the work directly, and let them know you really need it fast.

2 months? That's a long time for a replacement diploma.

Contact an elected official in your country and see if they can speed up the process.

This is a link to the Korean Immigration website which lists the options which we have in terms of how to provide the required graduation proof/diploma as part of the E2 process.

http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/InfoDetailR_en.pt?categoryId=2&parentId=382&catSeq=385&showMenuId=374&visaId=E2

It includes "Certificate of Diploma" and "Certificate of Graduation" which have been apostiled as acceptable options ... I think from previous information that this can include an official letter from the University.

Your scanned copy of one of them will NOT help you because copies need to be verified by the Embasy/Consulate before you can use them ... And they will need to physically see the original diploma before they will do that ...

I am not suprised at the time given as how long it would take to get a new original diploma ... I know that at least one of my universities has significant "red tape" that they must go through before they can issue a new copy ... And only hold the meeting to "authorise" the issue once a month ... and the request needs to be made a certain amount of time before that meeting to be included on the list ... I think I was given around a 2 month timeframe when I thought last year that I had lost the original of one of my degrees ...

Don't delay - apply today.

IT will be an issue for you and you WILL need it (your undergrad parchment).
