|
|
I know this is random, but I was wondering if anyone who lives near Bonghwasan station (brown line 6) can help us. We moved back to the U.S. about a month ago; we had to leave last minute for a funeral in Colorado. But we accidentally left our running shoes in our gym locker at the local gym we used. Now we're training for the Houston marathon, but our good/expensive running shoes are stuck in Seoul!!!
Anyway we were wondering if anyone who lives/works around that area would be willing to contact us and arrange to mail our shoes back to us? We will pay for the shipping cost (shouldn't be more than 8,000KRW i would imagine), and there's a korean post office right by the gym, so it shouldn't be too inconvenient. We figure it's worth a shot. Anyone who can help please feel free to reply, or email us direct at [email protected]
The owner of the gym is super nice and speaks perfect english, and he or his wife are always there. I would contact him myself but we just don't have any contact info. If anyone knows the gym I'm refering to, maybe you could even just get his phone number or email address for me and I can ask him to mail our shoes back to us. either way, thanks for any help everyone!!!!!!!! Much appreciated!!!!
ps: to everyone that came over and bought our furniture the night before we departed, thanks a million, and we hope you're enjoying all the stuff! |

sorry, i forgot to mention the owners name is Mr. Jong. I don't know the name of the gym, but most people in the sinnae-dong area near bonghwasan know which gym it is. the directions would be easy, it's directly behind the HomePlus in those apartments. Anyway I'll give more info if anyone thinks they are willing to help. thanks again! |

I can't believe nearly 5,000 people have replied to a topic simply to talk about the TV show "LOST", but not one person is willing to help us get our shoes back? in fact not one person is even willing to take the time to reply back to our posting to say "F@#$ off losers". I just don't get it..... |

This is an unreasonable request to ask of a stranger. Why don't you contact a friend who's still in Korea to help you out?
I'd say just buy new shoes... |

I don't see what is so unreasonable about asking someone who lives/works around that area, who knows the gym, to get the phone number or email address of the owner, who speaks English well. I can see that some people might be put off if asked to pay for the shipping, but the OP has even offered to pay that.
I don't live in Seoul right now, or I would go out of my way to help. I could use some positive karma....
In fairness, though, the post count for the Lost thread is only 1777 replies, with 57,000+ views. This thread is going on 6 replies and 99 views. It's not the best comparison. I understand that the OP is frustrated, though. Understandable...but not the best way to attract help. |

Also, the "LOST" thread was started in 2004.
I think most people stopped reading your thread after seeing the 80,000 won. Just use your furniture money to buy some new ones. Payless is pretty cheap. |

it would be a bit easier if you could give the subway exit it's close to or some other landmarks near it.
anyway, maybe you can find what you are looking for via this link:

three more maps (in the drop down link) for other exits.
good luck! |

In fairness, I meant to compare my thread to the "Song Titles" thread with almost 5K posts. I know it probably came across rude, but we were pretty frustrated and surprised that there are so many people on this forum and no one gave a $h!t to help us out. I appreciate your offer to help if you were in Seoul, and thanks for the post too.

correction: i said the shipping might be 8,000KRW (8 bucks usd) and that we will DEFINITELY pay for whatever the cost comes out to. the shoes arent payless flip flops, they're our expensive running shoes. We just figured it would be worth a shot to ASK if anyone would help us. it couldnt hurt. if no help, then it's our loss, no big deal. as for the furniture money, we didn't make a huge profit, in fact we didn't even break even. (our "furnished apart wasn't furnished at all...slept on the floor for first month) bottom line is our hagwon boss wouldnt give us 3 days emergency leave to attend a friends funeral, so we were left in an unfortunate situation....but enough ranting...thanks for the response though. |

as for directions to the gym, i'll do my best to describe it. Bonghwasan Station, go out exit three and turn right (walking up the street between HomePlus and the KB Bank) go up that road, through the one traffic light, and turn left on the first (and only) road. The gym is in the basement of the building straight ahead. It's a single story building with a white and blue sign in front that says GYM. The building is located in the middle of 4 apartment buildings (basically in their parking lot). i can pull up the seoul bus map to give an exact location if anyone is willing to actually go there. thanks again for any help. |

I love when people ask for the kindness of strangers but when they don't immediately get it, they turn into entitlement jerks and show their true hand. Makes one glad you didn't offer help originally. The world does not revolve around your stinky runners. Geez. Get some perspective. |

Entitlement jerk?? I was just expressing disappointment that no one had even responded. I was ecstatic even when we got a "F&^$ off" reply. And yea we're "asking" for the kindness of strangers, nothing more. We made it perfectly clear that we didn't want to inconvenience anyone, so those who are willing (AND ABLE) to help, "THANK YOU!!!"...and those that cannot/or will not help, then "Thanks anyway". We are being sincere and believe me, we have plenty of perspective. 9 times out of 10, we have not gotten help from the Daves esl community. But for the 1 out of 10 times we get help we are very appreciative. Sorry to offend.
ps: thanks for the reply either way. |
