Since he started charging schools to look at resumes it's alot harder to get future offers. I used to post my resume maybe once every three months and have a huge response from schools. Now i get maybe 4-5 e-mails per resume post. He's charging people now to look at our resumes. He might as well be charging us teachers, because it sucks for us in the amount of job offers we get. Anyone know of any up and coming websites that are picking up where Dave let us down?

Thanks. Confused

He is charging, but the schools are not paying. It is much easier for them to just place and ad the receive resumes. Why should they double pay?

It is harder to get a job because the supply outweighs the demand. Also, the more expereinced teachers are asking for more money, but the schools don't want to pay it.

Really!!!!! a huge response? At my last job, I was in charge of hiring a new teacher. I went thru all the reumes that were here. That was when it was free to look at them. At that time, it also kept track of how many times a resume had been viewed. Most, no matter how old, had NEVER been viewed even once. Sometime when I was bored, I would go thru and read the resumes. Always saw the same thing. No on ever looked at them even when it was free. The view counts were always 0 even if very old. Or 1, but that was because I viewed it. Smile

But wouldn't the recruiters have more of a reason to pay for access than schools? It's more worthwhile for a recruiter to pay for access because they're always looking for people and they have tons of positions to fill. I don't think it's worth it for a school that only needs a few teachers a year at most to pay all that money just to find one teacher who, chances are, won't even be interested in that particular school. I fear that this system will keep the schools away.

Maybe it's because I have a B'Ed and experience that I got a huge response, who knows. But now that it's pay per view, the response is pathetic. I liked that it was free before because good schools who were looking for a specific teacher could e-mail me. Like I asked in my first post, is there any site picking up the slack now that Dave's charging people to view our resumes?

Personally, I never cared for the resume posting area. Sure, I did it, but all it ever got me was a ton of crap from recrutiers that just put me on a mass e-mail list.

I'm not sure how thing are at the moment for people, but when I was looking for jobs this summer, I interviewed at 10 Seoul-based hagwons in 1 1/2 weeks, and had a job offer at 9 of the 10.

Eight of the first 10 I looked at were crap. I say crap, because they lied about SOMETHING -- be it housing, time in business, pay, or whatever.

In the end, I picked the 10th school. Once I signed on, I was told I had to work illegally for a week, or not get out of the apartment. Day 2 I was busted during an immigration raid.

The 11th school turned out to be a jem. I am very happy there, and just plain got lucky via a recruiter that had just the right thing. Literally 1 day after my immigration hearing, I was interviewed and offered a job at this school. They and the recruiter handled the immigration mess for me.
