So I need to sign a contract by tomorow, so I need help ASAP. Which job is the best.
JOB 1:
2:30 - 8:30 M/F
(must arrive an hour early for prep)
All curriculum provided, its part of a chain.
Teaching elemantry (1st-3rd graders mostly) and a couple middle school classes
2.3 million/ month
Single small studio
6-7 foreign teachers ( most have been there for 2 years)
* Sounds reliable, contract looks good
JOB 2:
4-10 M/F arriving only 15 minutes early!! 
Curriculum provided.
Teach Elemantry from 4-7 and middle 7-10
2.5 million/ month
near kyo dae subway station (is this good area??)
Housing is single studio
20 vacation ( 2 weeks winter / 2 weeks summer) !!!!
They have in the contract the "employer" can't fire me after the 11th month of the contract. I thought that was good
They have been in business for 10 years, 1 foreign couple that worked there for over 3 years but are now leaving.
* Wierd thing is I don't start teaching til September 1st. They need me ASAP to come in and prepare?! Is this good or bad. They said they want me to help pick out books anddo other things???.
JOB 3:
M/T - 3-9 Friday 2-4 !!!
In Achasan
Have not seen contract, nor I know nothing about school. But I really like the hours (only 2 hours on Friday)
Elemantry & Middle
I think this might be a small hagwon which scares me after my last ordeal
Offering 2.2 - Asked for 2.3
What would you take?
The 4 -10 has best incentive but 10:00 is a tad bit late. I dunno, I am really indecisive. |

| What are the contract dates on Job #2? In any event, you should ask all three for references and contacts from current / past teachers. If they're unwilling to provide them, keep looking. |

Don't go for #3, as you haven't seen a contract. You need to sign a contract by tomorrow, so don't go in blind. Scratch that out.
Honestly, #2 sounds the best. I would get contact information to talk to the couple who are leaving to make sure things are as good as they seem, and if they are, go for it. Usually when people have been there a long time, it is a good thing.
And it's spelled elementary. |

You don't need to sign anything by tomorrow.
There is NO RUSH and don't let some recruiter make you think there is.
Take your time and do it right or you will get burned - I PROMISE.
Those jobs or many that are identical will still be there tomorrow, next week, next month and even more next year.
(unless immigration gets their crap together in reference to the difficulty to obtain an E2.)
No rush - no panic - breath deep -
read the contracts carefully,
talk to current or past teachers when the boss is NOT looking over their shoulder (and talk to MORE THAN ONE).

1st - READ the contract over very carefully. If that doesn't scare you away then...

-Do they ALWAYS pay on time? (no=red flag 1)
-Do they pay at the end of your month or do they have a hold back period (5-10 days after your month end) to prevent runners? (no=red flag 2)
-Do they really pay overtime or avoid it with creative book keeping? (no=red flag 3)
-Do you get credit for classes on the national holidays or do you get the day off but still have to work your 120 hours before you get overtime? (no=red flag 4)
-Do they have national medical (with the little booklet)? (no=red flag 5)
-Do they pay into pension? (no=red flag 6) These two are legal requirements (not optional) and are usually NOT complied with (to your detriment).
-What about the holidays? 10 or more WORKING days? (legal requirement here) (no=red flag 7)
-When and how do you get your holidays?
-What extra stuff do you really have to do - mentioned or not in the contract.
-Then consider the quality of life issues - things that are important to you that aren't mentioned here (housing, furnishings, THE BATHROOM, access to recreational facilities, shopping, banking).
Do they take additional deposits in addition to the delay in payday? (yes=red flag Cool
I would also like to mention for comparison:
My co-worker who is a green as grass, fresh of the boat newbie gets a base salary of 2.1 mil per month for 22 classes of 40 minutes each.
She gets 20k won for each 40 minute class over 22 per week and works from 8:30-4:30 each day. She usually averages 26 classes per week and her salary works out to about 2.5 mil per month.
She also gets (as required by law and ignored by most hakwons) NHIC medical, pension, severance, non-shared housing, airfare and 4 weeks annual PAID vacation.
Do NOT be in a rush to sign anything. There is NO rush or urgency in spite of what you may have been told.
Take your time. The job (or more likely a better one) will still be there next week and probably next month too.
There are 30,000+ openings in Korea each year and less than 20,000 applicants to fill those jobs each year.

I have to come now.. the school said to my old recruiter that he has no boxes. I have confirmation one has been delivered. there lying
I have no job as I quit 3 weeks ago, I have no car as of now and I am rotating 3 outfits as all of my stuff is in Korea, exaclty where... I dunno
I have been quite picky in choosing these schools. I sort of like #2 also but I just really have to get over the fact that I will have to work so late.
I have a gut feeling about #2. I think thats what I'll do
The location is near kyo dae subway station line#2,3. Thats all it gives.
Does anyone know where that is?? |

There is no station called kyo dae anywhere near line 2 or 3. I have looked and haven't seen it nor have ever heard of it. |

I'd take job #2. You're working late, but the hours are less because of the short prep time and vacation is better than you'll get at most any hagwon.
If they want you to come early, make sure they're paying you for it. |

I dunno... I just feel like I am going to miss out on the fun stuff walking around the streets in the evening, dinner and stuff like that.
It just sucks I really wanted happy hours on Friday... I could still do at 8:30 but not at 10.
One attribute I wish I had is to more decisive. I really can't make a decision.
