Sorry, the search function gives me blank responses for some reason.

I wanted to take my friend, who is visiting from Philly, somewhere fun to eat and visit. We're both staying in the bundang area, but will probably travel out into the city, it depends.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Slumming in Itaewon, touristing in Insadong, spend an afternoon hunting around the open market in Namdaemun, add in one or 2 of the palaces while you are there.

Heading the other direction, the walled city in Suwon (lots of decent restaurants around the north gate) should be on the list.

Pop into a noraebang sometime on your trip and spend a few hours chugging cheap beers outside your local GS25 or 7-11 store.

A walk along the Tancheon or through Central Park in Bundang (close to home) should be on the list as well.

That should keep you busy for a few days.

Noriyangin station fish market. It's really interesting because you get to see rows and rows of odd looking fish creatures and stuff for sale.

Myongdong and Insadong are not too far from each other.... a few mins by taxi.

slumming= not being fancy. It is an expression that is a little hard to explain.

kinda means relaxing cheaply or relaxing in a poor/cheap area (even if it costs 5x the amount)

You can't slum it cheaply in shitaewon. If he's coming from America why bother with that shithole. Go to Hyehwa instead, much nicer and less wankers there.
