I used to think that marriage was what dreams were made of and what would complete me emotionally, psychologically and spiritually........until I got married.
Now when people ask about my marital status, I'd tell them I am 'happily divorced'.........and that the short time I was 'tied in a knot', I proclaimed that period as the 'darkest years of my life'................so when I hear people talk about the 'loves of their lives', I'd gingerly warn them that it is better to enjoy the situation because dating is like a evolving door- you can easily go in and come out................marriage is when they shut down the door and leave you trapped inside............
Don't get me wrong, I would love to try it again, but I am enjoying my abundant solitude to the fullest.............
Three Cheers for Being Single!!!!!!!! |
I think most guys dream of getting married. It is just that in the vast majority of cases the one we were meant to be with is the one that got away... |

Then the question turns into: Would you remain single until the 'right one' comes again?
If not, then it turns into that MLTR song- 25 minutes too late |

There are more than 6 billion people in the world so chances are there is more than one out there.
I want to get married but I fear getting divorced. I'm glad you survived it but I wouldn't be able to handle being put through the emotional wringer.
I think someone said earlier about having a life partner just to have children. In a way that is true. I want to be a father more than I want to get married.
I'm not cynical about it. I just think marriage seems to be a lot harder these days. |

| I think, for all humans who have grown up in the monoculture of western political correctness, there is always some fantasy that keeps us terminally undersatisfied with any dating or marriage relationship. As a result, we tend to make up scapegoats like 'the one that got away' or the ideal man/woman. In my opinion, being content with the situation (ideally a non-permanent one, a situation which has none of the anachronistic and financially deadly potential of marriage) as it evolves, keeping in mind that the choice to be with whatever person is daily and non-obligatory, makes for a successful and non-stressed relationship, which allows you to have sex and be free. I obviously completely write off marriage and having kids - this is ultimate doom. |

Actually divorce is just as ugly on women as they are ones that tend to go below the poverty line post-divorce. Particularly the case if there are kids involved as they are the ones shouldering the responsibilities of full time parenting.
Having said that, my boyfriend is in the midst of a rather ugly divorce process at the moment where his wife is intent on taking him to the cleaners and screaming horrible things at him in front of his daughter. She won't let him cash up his share of the house nor divide up the chattels and is demanding he cover private school tuition despite the fact he pays the same amount in child support as I make in a year.
My point is that divorce is a painful and costly process for both genders thus be careful who you marry! |

Old men are a turn off - rich or not. Women can make their own money these days. So the old single guys get nothing but their... hand?
Oh well, as long as the old ladies can have fun with hot sweaty Chip N Dale dancers. |

I will kindly refer posters to the thread called "Boy, don't do it!".......
Another reason I am alittle turned off about marriage is............the female relatives in their families..............if you find a 'good one' you might want to settle down with............take a good look at her mother, aunt or grandmother..........because that is what she will turn into a few decades down the road....................

But you know what?...........although there are many women who are turned off by age, there are some that will go after those older guys. Mostly because of money or because of the 'father syndrome' (appa-byung, in Korean).....which is the belief that the older guy is the one that will take care and protect them..........and alot of those that go after older guys are quite hot and are kinda' educated.............I am not saying there are many of them.........but they are out there.............
As someone said; There are 6 billion+ people in the world............someone is bound to find 'their match' sometime down the road...................but then again, it depends on if that time ever comes............ |

I like the "Don't Do it Boys!" thread, obviously, and if I were to hook up iwth a Korean gal who knows a bit about nutrition, and doesn't fear the sun like a vampire, then I would discount what her humpback hag mom looks like.
That, and once the infatuation is gone and there is love of some substance-hey, we all get old-and my mom had to care for my pops for 6.5 years-although he looked good until The End.
Of course, I would rather hit Sassy Girl now instead of 2018 but you can't always get what you want. |

That's a cute lookin' critter. As far as marriage, people want good marriages obviously, but there is always a risk. That's why they call it taking the plunge. I would take the risk, but I am not in a hurry to get married, but for the right woman I would get married. |

He was really born that way. This dog was the big news story of about a week ago. I guess it didn't make it to Korea. |
