The bloke who set himself on fire is a tit.

I hope he dies. I feel sorry for his family, fancy having such a wanker related to you.

Eh, I'd be willing to bet they'll be blaming 2MB/the US for this before they acknowledge their father/husband/grandpa was a moron.

"Damn 2MB and those filthy Americans! Damn them for possibly importing beef that has an infinitesimally low risk of making people sick! Damn them for forcing our beloved family member to take his own life in protest! Disregard the fact that Korean beef was actually rated more dangerous in international testing, or the fact that we're the last nation to be lifting the ban on US beef!"

The man obviously has mental problems. If it wasn't this issue, it would have been something else.

I'm sorry he did something so stupid. I'm sure he regrets it now.

Good riddance to that guy. I smell a Darwin award; "Man cooks himself alive in BBQ Beef Protest". In a country where 2 + 2 = 5, this type of thing does not surprise me at all.

How many self-burnings now for Korea in recent years? They seem to be winning at this event.

I don't. To be more accurate, we would say the man darwinized himself, or he took himself out of the gene pool.

Darwin Awards are reserved for people who take themselves out unitentionally throught their own stupidity. This guy made the conscious decision to light himself on fire; there was no "oops! that wasn't supposed to happen."

Anyway, it's not a clean cull since he already passed on his defective genes to at least one more generation, possibly two.

Our beef is the most powerful in the world. Koreans turn "mad" even before they start consuming. Razz

It looks like a culture thing they have. A teacher at my last school apologised for somebody lighting up at a demo last year in Seoul. I said it was OK, every nation has it's nutters.

Was watching Discovery Channel the other night, about the Korean movie business. It showed a great deal of the history of Korea, and protesters being enlightened since the end of the war. Seems they always protest about something, with the inevitable "burning ones self" stance, taken by some.

I'd be willing to bet that this man was already suicidal and saw this as a convenient cover-up. When I spoke of this incident, as it happened locally, with some Koreans, they all said he was a hero... What dopes!
