This may be covered elsewhere and if so I apologise. I am wondering if any non Canadian has had a CRC accepted by immigration with an embassy notorisation instead of an apostille?

Immigrations website says they can accept it, but I would just like a precedent.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

There's a sticky. http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=118735

I just got back from getting mine notarized at the embassy. I don't imagine I'll have any problems. I do have a misdemeanor on my record though, I'll let people know if I can get my visa renewed with a record that is only one offense, non-violent, non-drug related, and non-sexual. The hikorea site says that exceptions will be made if the nature of the crime is minimal, guess I'm about to find out if that's true.

Canada is not a signatory state to the Hague convention....meaning....Canadians do not need to apostille their documents.

The consulate notarization of your documents is all you need.

I can put you in contact with a girl from Montreal that we recently hired at our school if you would like confirmation.

As a Canadian you do not need the apostille. I hope that helps!!

US citizens however...under current immigration regulations...must have the apostille.

Unless....you're already working in Korea....then you go to your respective government embassy to acquire an "affidavit."

If you're in Korea...read the sticky titled "Authenticating a background check in Korea."

Those are the three options...but if you are Canadian...you don't need the apostille.
