Anyone who's been to the doctors in Korea will be aware of the way that they hand out any medication, those small bags with a multitude of unidentified pills. Coming from western based medical practices i'm a little sceptical of taking drugs when im not entirely sure what they are. Does anyone know of any websites or anyways to identify what you've been prescribed? |

If you don't read Korean, you can ask the doctor what medicine he's giving you, you can ask the nurse at the counter when she prints the prescription and hands it to you, or you can ask the pharmacist what the medicine is.
If you do read Korean, just read the prescription before your hand it to the pharmacist. |

I've tried, couldn't find one, not even with a pill identifier site.
Although I think I've gotten very good medical care in Korea, yesterday a doctor refused to write a prescription for blood pressure meds and told me that "it's very dangerous medication, better to have high blood pressure." He also said aspirin was very dangerous and shouldn't be taken to prevent stroke, as it caused bleeding in the brain. Oh well... |

Lol, I see that your doctor hasn't been bought by the drug industry yet. |

I don't pay attention to the medication that they give me. I'm too distracted by that hot disgusting drink that some of the pharmacies give you. Don't know what it is; probably good for stamina or something. |

Bigfeet, do you mean to say that you think blood pressure medication is only for the benefit of the drug producers? You don't think it should be prescribed? |

Friend of mine went in with a cold and told them she was having trouble sleeping. The usual shot in the ass and package of pills, she went home and started taking her meds. The next few days she was drowsy and falling asleep during work, she could hardly keep her eyes open. She asked someone what her pills were and it turns out they were tranquilizing her three times a day. |

No, I'm surprised he doesn't prescribe pills for every imagined or real ailments that his patients have. Doctors in the US over-prescribe but I can see why, patients demand it and the drug industry encourages it. |

I just remember the time I got stitches when I cut my thumb cooking, and the doctor gave a shot in my arse. I think the shot in the arse is the foundation of Korean medicine. |

LOL. Yes, I think so.. although in your case, it's probably used against infection.
I've been here for 8 years and I have so far been successful in refusing the shot. |

I got ordered to the doc for a head cold a couple of times, and they had me on some kind of insane cocktail of drugs that was like meth. I lost my cold alright, but I couldn't write on the board because my hands shook too badly |
