Need some advice.

For the past couple of nights I've had trouble sleeping, woke every 20 mins it seemed....or couldn't get to sleep at all. I've felt bloated, burped a lot, and my heart felt like it was racing. I haven't ate or drank anything out of the ordinary. I've never had any problems before with my stomach, intestines, liver etc.

Has anyone else felt this way? Should I go to the doctor?

Thanks in advance

Have you been eating anything different? I love the taste of these English crackers from Costco, but man.... I eat more than 5 and I fart all day.

Every now and then something like that happens to me. Korea doesn't maintain sparkling standards of hygiene and once in a while something screws up my digestive system for a couple of days. Probiotics are worth a try. You can get those yogurt drinks with acidophilus or you can get the capsules from GNC or the International Clinic in Itaewon. Not cheap, but worth it. Increasing your fiber intake is also helpful. If you eat breakfast cereal add some All Bran (the kind that looks like little twigs) to it, for example. Eat vegetables and fruits. If you can find an English-speaking pharmacist, see if you can get something for gas, as well. When I get them, these things seem to run their course in a couple of days. If it continues, go to the doc.

If it lasts more than a month, get yourself checked for acid reflux. Seriously.

Don't eat anything three hours before bedtime...especially anything fermented (bean paste, kimchi, etc.) I know you've probably heard it before, but this does work if it is a digestive issue.

Sometimes too much salt does that.

May be you need to cut down on your salt intake?

Maybe its a medical condition. I'm not doctor, but it could be something to do with your esophagus. Maybe the valve that controls air going into lungs and food/drink going into your stomach is screwy.

The air you breathe could be leaking into your stomach (hence all the burping). Since your lungs aren't getting as much air, your heart could be racing.

This is all just a guess though.

Personally, when I sleep at a desk with my head down, I always have to burp every 10 minutes. I think the way my body bends is causing air to go into my stomach.

Do a search on Wiki or WebMD for Helicobacter pylori, a common stomach infection here in Korea.
