Is there anyone on this board who has not had to go back home because of a black mark from immigration? Thanks.

Define black mark.

I'm still here teaching after being busted for teaching on a tourist visa. That was 5 years ago. I was fined 500,000, given an exit-order, and allowed to work at a new school (not the same one though) on a 6 month contract just a week later. Immigration "punished" me by allowing me only a 6 month contract (which turned out to be a blessing anyway). Had a recruiter handle the paperwork, though, which probably smoothed things. I had just finished a 1 year contract at another school, and it was pretty obvious that my school had just been lazy about trying to get my paperwork (never handed it in, although they told me they had). I wouldn't have worked illegally, but I had previously spent over a week living in a hotel and needed a job after the previous 'new job' went out of business just before I started. Long story.

And your VISA STATUS IS?????

NOT E2.....

If your gonna comment about people on E2s having difficulty under the new rules then state that you are an exception... you better also include that you don't fall under the new rules....

Your statements are blatantly misleading on the face of them even though they did occur in times past under different rules.

I've only been F2 since this year, patz.

Take it easy.

I think I was quite clear that this happened several years ago, and that my situation doesn't exactly mirror what she's asking for to perfection. Are you too forkin' stoopid to read what I wrote, and realize that when I say I've been here for over 5 years, I wouldn't exactly fall perfectly under the new rules? I thought I'd mention something at least, since not a soul answered ellie.

You're turning into a real arrogant, self-righteous ass. Are you bucking for mod-hood or something? God forbid someone other than the almighty Ttompatz should offer up something about their past experience around here.

Jeesh guy, get a grip on yourself. You're becoming a real dick.

pander,

the interview doesn't apply to you, so really whatever comment you make is irrelevant. The OP wanted to know based on an E2 status, and you have made it known that you are an F2. So, I think Tom is well within his rights to call you out on this, and you calling him a name really because he is helping someone, whereas your advice does no good, is simply, well, BS.

Ttom helps a lot of people out with accurate information. Your info does the OP no good, so really, why talk?

I just became an F2 very recently. I renewed my visa (including earlier this year) as an E2. Again, I was very clear about my situation, and wasn't trying to misrepresent myself.

Ttompatz has helped people, yes, but he has increasingly become a pompous, self-righteous ass. It appears that I am not alone in this belief, either.

Bassexpander also made it pretty clear about the timeline.

5 years ago was what I read. Multiple jobs since then is what I read. Granted...Korean Immigration has tightened the screws recently...but I thought bassexpander did in fact provide relevant information to the situation.

And...like he pointed out himself...there weren't any other responses to the thread...he was in fact trying to help.

The original question posed was whether or not anyone had to go home...bassexpander made it pretty clear that he didn't.

ttom needs his cyber ego stroked on a near daily basis...and anyone that offers up anything slightly contradictory is lambasted by his arrogant ass. Why the hell did he pop up in this thread anyways?? He didn't have anything to offer...much like myself...but decided to comment anyways.

So I'm going to throw my two cents out there as well...I think he's one of the more jaded...self righteous...inflexible...and pompous members of this board. He still thinks a period of sojourn is determined by a card...and not a visa...even though the first item of paperwork one needs to extend his or her stay...is in fact...a visa extension application.

Not everything he touches...or says...is gold.

And where is the visa extension application stamped on? And what do you think the dates on the card apply to?

It gets better with the replys. Laughing

Sorry, but it's time to put this little misconception to rest once and for all.

"Visa extension application"? Really? I'm pretty sure it says "Extension of sojourn period." As a matter of fact... I don't see the word "visa" anywhere on that form.

But hey, what do I know?

Ramyon, stale cigarette smoke, and vile anus.
