The downside of having a place with more than one room is my computer and TV can't be heard from other rooms. I'd like to play music on my computer and have the speakers in other rooms but I have NO idea what kind I should be looking for. But I do want cheap: I don't need them to be high-end or fancy. I'll probably only use them for the year I'm here anyway.

Anyone selling or could give me advice on what to buy and what's a good price?

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on wifi speakers. If they are at 2.4ghz, then they are on the same frequency area as wifi routers and cordless phones. The sometimes make static noise.

Crappy. Is there any way to set up speakers in different rooms without crazy wires everywhere? What does everyone else do?

Well, the floor vinyl is easy enough to pull up at the edges in my place. It's just sort of laying flat and now glued down anywhere, actually. I routed a phone wire along the edge and into another room. The most difficult part was at the wooden baseboard where the doors were. I had to saw out a small gap to make it fit, and it's not really noticeable.

Have a look at the Apple Airport Express. it works with both Macs and Windows. You can also run a USB printer off of it and of course it's a router so you can use it for connecting to the Internet.
