I'm just home from shopping, about to take a shower and getting ready to go out when I hear all this shouting. I live in a semi-poor oldish Villa neighborhood, on the 3rd (top) floor. Not a huge deal, as Saturday nights are usually noisy in my 'hood--usually drunks yelling at their wives in the street and vice versa. Anyways, as I'm about to step in the shower, I notice that the yelling was unusually loud, so I open my window, only to discover that a crowd of 11 (I counted 'em) high school kids were all gathered around under my apartment shouting up in my general direction. They made some little shrine thingy with a little table and candles on top of it, one of them wore some kinda raincoat blood costume with cow ear thingies I kinda got a kick out of it, as were the 30 or so ajummas and ajosshis watching the HS kids do their protest chanting "Blahblah2MBblahblahMIGUKSOblahblah." I was like hanging out my window halfway, and enjoying the scene.

I didn't think they were protesting me, cuz, well, I'm Canadian.

...Until one of the kids threw a glass-encased candle at me. As I duck in my apartment, the candle glass smashes my window. Meanwhile they are now starting to yell "Miguk GO HOME!" I go down to the other room that's dark, look out, and see the ajummas and ajosshis laughing their asses off at how funny they found it by me almost getting brained by a glass projectile. I can't quite see the HS kids at this point as they were under an awning from this angle. I did spy ajummas and ajosshis now bringing food out to the protesters. More chanting, more go home's, a few frack USA's, thankfully no more projectiles. I debated making a molotov cocktail and firing back, but it was just a thought.

I finish my shower, change, I have to meet some buddies. They're still protesting, but I'm not gonna be trapped in my home by screaming HS kids. I mean, I'm a huge dude. 270, 9% BF, with several Canadian Amateur Body Building titles to my credit. So I go outside, and I just stop outside to stare at them...staring at me. Mexican stand-off vibe. I futz with my earbuds as I walk towards the little *beep* that threw the candle at me. I literally think all 11 kids gulped at the exact same moment. The ajummas and ajossis scattered like cockroaches.

Flexing, I just gave my best pissed off look (though inside I wasn't so much) and said, "You. dumb. Fracking. Korean. I. am. Canadian."

Now for some reason I just couldn't stop saying the same thing over and over, in every itteration possible. "Stupid Korean boy. Me Canadian. Bahbo Korean student. I Canada saram. Idiot, fool stupid Korea. I am Canadian. You know Canada? (Pull out my wallet that has Maple Leaf, point to it, "See? Canada. You moron. You crazy. You razy cow. "

Finally I hit "Play" on my iPod and catch a cab.

What is up with these people? And I am not talking about Koreans--heck, later went to Apkujeong and had a great time with a bunch of Koreans. Poor Koreans though are something else though. I really think had a been 130 lbs, I might have been torn apart by a mob of soju-ed up Koreans.

I suggest all for'ners here hit the gym, eh?

Actually, due to the situation you described, I was relieved to hear that. For some reason, the whole 'Justin Kimberlake' thing threw me off and I would have guessed something more along the lines of this:

EDIT: yes, please do post pics. Of yourself. Preferably in the 'hawt or not' thread. Laughing

If you are Canadian, ok. For Americans, that defines "pussy."

OP, what area of Seoul (or Korea) do you live in?

Dude the first 75% of your post was hilarious, especially the part about considering making a molotov cocktail and firing back at them. I laughed out loud at that for a good two minutes. Then you started in with the Canada saram nonsense and the maple leaf on you wallet. Rolling Eyes Kinda killed the thread for me.

If Koreans want to protest against any group, it should be against Canadians who insist on wearing maple leaf patches on their bags or clothing. A maple leaf on your wallet. That's a new one altogether. Shocked

A Maple Leaf on my Social Insurance Card saved me from getting arrested by the KGB in Latvia once. I was sure glad I had it on me.

Nothing beats the deadly combination of a maple leaf and tickets to the gun show.

Just watch out for the guns- they'll get ya!

just get a bunch of those "I'm not American shirts" Back in high school, there were two girls in my high school class that were cursed at until they said they were canadian....and then the locals (Euros) apologized

Lesson: If you're white, expected to be called an American in Korea. If you're a white Canadian, expected to be called an American in places that know what Canada is
