...taken public transport with livestock aboard (Colombia).
...taken public transport riddled with bullet holes (Copper Canyon, Mexico).
...bribed public officials (Colombia/Ecuador border).
...been a victim of (attempted) mugging (several).
...been a victim of a shakedown (confidence scheme/fraud) (Colombia/Venezuela border).
...had the parasites/amoebas so bad you couldn't stand up straight (Ecuador).
...slept in public places (park, parked car, etc.) (several)
...seen whole rotting carcasses near tourist attractions (Mexico City).
...ridden on top of the bus (Ecuador).
...received inoculations at an airport (Peru).
...begged for a visa extension (Ecuador).

P.S. This isn't intended to proclaim myself a 'real traveler' but instead to find out how far I have to go (and hear some good stories).

...bought baby formula for a begging skin and bones baby in Cambodia. Actually a woman was carrying the baby going, "milk milk." I suspect that it's a corrupt ploy where bad dudes have her out to get that expensive baby formula sold in Siem Reap to sell on the black market while the woman and children are made to do it or die and then starve. The worlds a corrupt place and don't believe anything you hear until you see it.

...attacked in Amsterdam with a drop kick to the knee which took out my ACL and the Dutch couldn't come off of a set of crutches for under $300, but at least I only had to get to Germany for help via the train and the politi took me to the central train station.

...rented the nicest faciest hotel in Budapest for only USD $65 a night.

...toured Poipet, Cambodia via motorbike for 2 terrifying and adventurous hours.

...walked where wild elephants lay down at night in Khao Sok, Thailand. (get off the jungle trail at your own risk)

...petted and kissed the big tiger cats in Kanchanaburi, Thailand with no protection.

...drove motor cycles for my 1st time ever while in Thailand.
...learned how to drive on the left side with no problemas.
....got on motor cycles with no helmet for blood curdling rides.
...drove and walked around Bosnia in 1996 with land mines inches away from my tires and footsteps while all utilities and infrastructure was down and everything had bullet holes with skeletons laying in burned up vehicles on the sides of the road as well as houses blowed up with the dead occupants still present and rotting in the Summer sun. Grossed me out.

...got on private jet in a mud field in 3rd world war zone. Got those white leather seats and carpet dirty..

...got pick pocketed by a little boy in Cologne, Germany stadtmitte and caught him physically and took back my wallet.

...discovered how trance is the best music on Earth while in Germany.

...walked the very old cobble stone streets my ancestors walked on.

Travel with insurance and smart protective gear and don't wait around to be bait... I learned the hard way.

That is an impressive list. But it would be more interesting if you were to label each adventure with its respective country. I keep asking WHERE?

As you can see, most of it happened in a certain part of the world because I haven't traveled that much. I should also have included the 'positives' which are far more prevalent.

... eaten an animal's dick and scrotum.

... eaten an animal foetus.

... spent a number of days with a red dot on your forehead.

... bought musical instruments that you'll never learn to play.

... eaten with a rat at your shoulder.

... gone higher than 5,500m.

... negotiated for two hours over the price of bedsheet.

... become completely desensitized to the halt, the lame, and the hideously deformed.

... developed a hatred for Canadians/Israelis/your fellow countrymen.

Got giardia from swimming in a river (India)
Been bitch-slapped by an Alitalia stewardess (somewhere between Mumbai and Milan)
Been mistaken for an Israeli in Palestine (Bethlehem, more than once)
Lived in a war zone (the West Bank)
Not showered for more than a week (more times than I'd like to admit to)
Slept in your car (all over the U.S. West and Midwest)
Had your passport "red-flagged" (at the Israel-Jordan border)
Have the IDF mistake your clarinet for a bomb (Tel Aviv)
Taken a train in India

I'm sure I'll think of more . . .

Laughing I can totally relate to that! On my first day in Holland back in 1992 I found myself on the pavement outside a 'Coffee Shop' after 2 hours of superskunking and not knowing where the hell to go, what to do, what my name was..........I think I just stood there for 10 minutes (probably 2 minutes...... Shocked ) then started walking downhill!!
