I teach at my elementary school on Fridays. This Friday they are off on a camping trip. So I can't teach. I'm off next week for two weeks with my renewal holiday. One of my middle schools is on a camping trip today so no classes. To help my co-teacher I have come into today and have taught my four lessons even though it's a day off. I have no problem with this, that's why I'm happy to come in.
Tomorrow they have the supervisors and principals coming to watch a open class by my co-teacher. The Principal had the cheek to ask my co-teacher to see if I'll come into tomorrow at 2pm (when I should be at my main middle school), because he wants the principals to see that he has a native teacher. F*ck off! "You can phone up my other school and ask them, they will tell you to get bent" Schools get very precious when it's a day that I should be teaching with them. As I told my co-teacher, if they wanted to see me then why not.....erm......why not......do it on a Friday, when I'm meant to be here. The logic ended there.
Haha! Not venting here but thought it was an kind of interesting. |
I avoid issues like that entirely by letting it be known that I will only teach at *my* school. The moment they want me to be a travelling guest speaker / entertainer they can find someone else to do the job. |

That was my problem YBS. IF I'd gone then I'd do 3 minutes of repeating while my co-teacher did her 'repeaty clap clap lesson' The Principal wanted me there for vanity reasons. "Oh look at our lovely native teacher talking three times". WTF! No way! If I'm not doing the planning/teaching then I have no interest in any point scoring exercise. Lucky I'm at my other school.

I have been told there is one week of summer camp... but there is no way they will be so good to me as to allow all the other weeks off.
My contract says no extra pay for summer camp. I don't care, I just want to get the next three months done so I can get the *beep* out of here. |

| Those of you who have been asked by your POE to perform duties beyond your contract, would you mind sharing for what province you are working? |

Yesterday, I was asked to attend a 'workshop' on Saturday (all the other idiot-stick, PS, FTs are attending).
My answer was an emphatic "No." |

I don't blame you man you have a bad deal from what I have read-apart from the commute into Seoul, whihc on a weeknight can take 150 minutes, I've got it good-a tough call for me, but I don't want to be mmy naturally antagonistic self as my 1 coteacher is gold and I don't want her hearing crap from someone who isn't her principal. |

Last year it was three days.
It's still not bad though. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I can't be getting off this easy. |
