I was just thinking today....
Korea has a good handful of sports victories in the last 20 years or so. But do they have any untainted, uncontroversial victories. Ummmm......(still thinking)
Let's see what they have...
2002 World Cup (Spain and Italy game controversies)
Park Shi Hun vs Roy Jones at 1988 Olympics (BS bribed judges)
Choi Hong Man vs Mighty Mo Round 2 (Bad judging)
And so on. The lesson to be learned here? Don't face a Korean in Korea. You can pound the guy into pulp, take low blows, there will be no punishment. You can get kicked in the head by a Korean player and he won't get a yellow or red card.
And when Koreans lose at sports, they always claim to be cheated.
Let's see...
2005 World Baseball Classic
2006 World Cup game vs Switzerland
2006 Olympic Woman's Handball team (So sad, sad enough to make a movie about)
Mr Ahn getting beaten by Ono
and more.
Does Korea have any untainted victories? |

Are you literally asking about this? I guess not? There were just so many big and small sports events of all sorts in the past 20 years that involved Korean winners that I don't know where I can start. Narrow down a little? |

To make it simple, what about all the winnings in the 88, 92, 94, 96, 98, 00, 02, 04 and 06 Olympics? Do you believe 99% of them were controversial? The total accumulated numbers of gold, silver and bronze medals that Korean athletes won in these events are 12+2+12+4+7+3+8+2+9+6, 10+1+5+1+15+1+10+2+12+3 and 11+1+12+1+5+2+10+9+2, respectively. I said its too broad.

The Spanish game was questionable. But, I think that Italy game was fair. The Italians just sat on their @sses for most of the game expecting the Koreans to just roll over. And the flopping the Italians did, sure, maybe some were flopping because they were tripped, but alot of it was pure acting. So, the official had enough of guessing and decided to flash a red card. Anyways, it was fun being at that game, the red crowd and all.
As for that boxer. He was totally outclassed, shouldn't have even come close to being in the final. |

The only one of those I actually watched was Mighty Mo vs Choi Hong Man, Part II.
Mighty Mo certainly won the fight, he landed more punches and seemed to have Choi slightly dazed. I was shocked when the decision went in Choi's favour.
I went to "K1 Asia World Max", in Seoul a few months ago and it was about 6 Koreans vs 6 fighters from other Asian countries.... Guess who the first 6 fighters to be eliminated were.... The non-Koreans. I'm not saying all of the decisions were unfair, but based on what I saw I thought most certainly were. |

K-1 is ridiculous. Koreans don't lose in Korea and Japanese don't lose in Japan. |

You know, someone posted the Roy Jones Jr. fight in the 88 Olympics, which was a travesty.
Then someone posted about how Korea cheated Spain and Italy in 2002. Well, you might have a *marginal* argument about Spain, but I have no sypmathy for the Italians. I love the Italian language, but that soccer team has acted like thugs for years, and their league was pretty much bought and sold for a couple years as well.
I root for Korea. They're no worse than anyone else, you get "home cooking" as we say in every sport.
For instance, in the last L.A. Lakers vs. Boston Celtics game IN BOSTON Boston went to the free throw line 38 times, the Lakers went 10.
38 to 10?? WTF is up with that??
And like one scrub player named PO when more times than the *entire* Laker team.
So this stuff is just par for the course. |

But, but. but... Korea is all bad. They... they can't possibly have ever achieved anything without cheating or stealing, right? |

I also hate the Italian team, but every team deserves to be judged fairly.
The Italians had 2 goals discounted by the referees, and there was no punishment for when Lee Chun Soo kicked Toti in the head. Does that not qualify as unfair?
The Choi vs Mighty Mo fight was at least somewhat questionable. The Roy Jones fight wasn't. The blind man in the bleachers could have made the right call.

You asked the question, " are there any korean wins that weren't mis-judged?" yet you keep bringing up the same examples over and over. Did Paul Ham deserve to win the medal for America??? Every country gets their breaks home...
now, it is your turn to make a comment about A.) the Italy game B.) Choi Hung Man C.) Roy Jones Jr., which shall it be?
This guy brings the same attitude to just about every Korean sports thread. It gets old.
P.S. Did you even watch the Korean handball movie??? It wasn't about how they got screwed, it was about them switching coaches right before the olympics and the coach that got fired coming back to play for the team. |
