.....except the foreign teachers! So, does this happen a lot at your school? Where the Korean teachers get some new goodies but the foreigners are always left out? All of the Korean teachers just got a new 4GB flash drive, but none for me and the other foreign teacher at my school. It just seems like another way to discriminate. I guess I should be used to it by now. Confused

They gave em out at my school, I ended up getting one. I think it's just a school to school thing or something.

I wish I made 4 times as much as they do! My co-teacher told me she makes 5 million per month. I'm barely scrapping at 2.1, so I'll take the flash drive thank you. Laughing

Eh 5 mil is the exception not the rule. New teachers start at 2 mil a month, my coteacher who's been teaching 20 years is at 3.6 (not homeroom teacher)

Yeppers. First day of the school semester, we were all called in the teachers' room for a meeting. Then the "extra" teachers were dismissed. I found out they gave all the teachers except the extra ones flash drives. I had to buy 2 flash drives using my own money. I have a lot of specialized classes & I supplement the shitty text. I lost one of my flash drive a while ago and think it's cruddy the school didn't even bother asking if I wanted one when they damn well know I use flash drives....a LOT.

Go onto eBay, buy a 32GB flash drive, and start waving it around at school. Extole its speed and how fantastic it is. Oh, you've only got 4GB? Hrmph. Well, I suppose it's okay for what you use it for.

Sorry, I stand corrected.
I heard other people talking about how the other Korean teachers make way less, thus often leading to hostility to the foreign teachers.

I guess their word is as good as yours.

I don't know what to believe! Smile

Their pay scale keeps going up, that's why I think there are varied reports. We can't really say a standard salary. The newbie 22 year old teacher pulls in 2 mil, the 55 year old will pull in considerably more.

There are also bonuses for things like being a homeroom teacher, and you get a pay supplement depending on how many kids you are raising.

I'm guessing they don't get anything else on top of this though, right? as in no accommodation, airfare, etc.?

Yeah that's native crap. I don't know about other bonuses either. People bandy around figures saying that koreans get these huge bonuses, not sure if that's true or applies to teachers.
