Let me start by saying that perhaps I should find a way to rephrase that without using the word reason.

Tell me some prices and I will let you in a semi-humorous story.

I just bought one yesterday morning in fact (less than a week before departure) for 1.4 million won, inclusive of gasoline and tax charges.

I heard of you situation and was sad to hear.

Was yours a return ticket? How many stops along the way? What airline?

Return, but might not use the return portion if can't extend date. Japan Airlines, from Busan (Gimhae) to Vancouver via Tokyo.

So what's your story?

I found a ticket for $1700. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough. Just went with the travel agent I have used since I got here. It sounded pretty reasonable. Not stops; just a straight, ten hour shot to Van.

My boss said it was fine. He actually said it sounded great. However the next day he said he found a ticket for $1200. Of course, it stops in Hong Kong, both ways. This only adds ten hours or so to each flight. He said it didn't sound so bad. I said there was no way that I was taking that flight. I may have to but, it certainly needn't be a return ticket if that is the case. It's too bad because I have really been treated well up to the point of the negotiation for my next contract.

So did I. One phone call to Kangsan Travel in Busan. They always do right by me. Smile

Only 10 hours! ... Would be alright if it was a one-night layover. A night in Hong Kong would be fun. Just waiting an hour or two at the airport, not.

Try expedia.ca. I just got home to St. John's NL a couple of days ago for 1.1 million. That's twice the distance for 300$ less than the lowest quote I've seen in this thread.

No worries. I will tell my boss the cost of a one way flight too. Maybe he will get the hint. Honestly, you put in a solid year of work, do everything asked of you and more. And this is what you get. You are never more than a business tool. At worst you are __________?

Cthulhu, I got a return flight To Vancouver on Singapore Air, 30 days, July31 to Aug 30, 970,000 won but I booked a couple of months ago. I also got a return ticket calgary to St John's for $881 return. Travel on Wednesday is cheaper.
Another option...A friend just got a flight to Halifax return for similar time frame for $1580 on expedia.ca. You might be able to get a decent price return from halifax.
