| My girlfriend and I were just offered a position in Gimhae near Busan. The Korean recruiter is really pushing for me to sign the contract tonight. He also says that since I broke contract in 06 from a Wonderland School after 5 months that I am black listed, but that they will give him a letter of release if he goes there in person. I feel like this is his way of making me use him as a recruiter. I'm not even sure if I could really be blacklisted. At the time I "ran" I was thinking about switching schools and I know that required a letter of release, but it's been almost two years now, do I really need one? I don't see how I could owe them money, they kept half of my first 3 paychecks! |

Tell him to *beep* RIGHT off. He's taking you for a ride. |

That's for sure.
You don't need a "letter of release" if your visa has expired. Why did you let the dirty little cheats keep half of your first 3 pay checks? And why are you being so honest with recruiters to tell them the minute details of your past job in Korea? I think you need to wise up and stand up for yourself a bit more. |

I felt like I should be honest up front to iron out any problems that it may cause in the future. Bad habit, I guess. Letting them keep 1/2 of my pay was never a plan, it was something that they surprised me with when I arrived.

Give us the recruiter's email so we can have some fun with him. |

The recruiter you are using is lying...not mistaken mind you, he's outright lying.
Find every recruiter you can...use all of them, but when they lie to you, cross them off the list. |

The bad news is that YES you can be blacklisted. It happened to me. I was on the blacklist from '94 to 2001. The result was my work visa was blocked in '95, '99 and '01 when I changed jobs. I was able to get past the blacklist because the bosses knew people in the government. The second one also almost certainly paid a bribe. The third one was enough of a heavyweight to get my Immi record cleared.
Are YOU blacklisted? I'm not in a position to look at your Immi file, so I don't know. The posters above me didn't mention looking at your file so my guess is they have no idea either.
Is the recruiter scamming you? Who knows. My guess is he's telling the truth. But it's only a guess. |

There's a number you can call (I believe) to have your name removed from the blacklist. The blacklist is illegal.
Anyone have more information on this? |

Of course you can be blacklisted but this has nothing to do with any "letter of release". The fact that the recruiter is talking about that suggests he's trying to pull one. It's also highly unlikely that the immigration authorities would reveal details of their blacklist to anyone who calls them.
Please explain the circumstances of how you came to be blacklisted. I bet there was more to it than just leaving a job early. |
