Anyone quit a job after a month or 2? What's the deal? How do you get out of the contract, cancel the visa? Are there any problems with immigration when trying to get another one? Can the school "blacklist" you, or make it hard to get another visa/ refuse to let you out of the current visa?

Also, as of now, I don't have my alien registration card.... what happens if you quit before you get it? Do you have to leave right away? 2 weeks? Easy to get another visa right away?

Your contract should have a provision for giving notice. Just give your notice. Korean employers are very fair about this sort of thing. You need not worry about your final paycheck.

^ he's not being serious.

why are quitting... if things are dodgy at your hagwon (?), many people would suggest running to avoid those surprise "deductions" on your last month's pay.

by the way, doesn't immi have your passport right now if they're processing your ARC? first off, i'd wait to get my passport back before informing them or making a move towards resignation

I'm in a similar situation with my Hagewon...I've been here 4 months, and the people and school are good, it's just not for me. I don't like how they handle certain situations, nor do I really like the area I'm in. I found what looks like a better job but don't really know how to go about telling my hagewon. Anyone have a similar situation?

Your contract should outline a procedure for it's termination. If you intend to quit and then get another job in Korea, without first leaving the country, then you will need a letter of release; a statement from the hakwon that they are releasing you from your visa obligations. Another employer will then be able to sponsor your visa

Once I start a new job what do I need to do in regards to my ARC and visa? The experation dates on them will differ with a new contract; does my new employeer take care of that or is there something I need to do?

i gave my 45 days notice and i am still working here (its been about 15 days past notics now). Basically my boss told me he wont give me a letter of release unless i stay until he gets a replacement. I dont know if i can leave since i fulfilled my notice, or what. I just want to move on and get a better job here, but i feel stuck. Dunno what to tell you.
