My wife and I run a study room from my apartment. I enjoy it quite a bit, but mothers can be down right scary at times. I don't think it is a Korean Japan thing, it's just a mother thinking their children can do no wrong.

I had a student with decent English, but a terrible attention span decide to blurt out "shut the f--- up!" in my class. I kicked him out and his mother called my wife up screaming and yelling at her for what I did.

Her English is actually quite good, so I told her she had no right to speak to my wife that way and I was not interested in teaching her boy as she was not a good mother and I could not control her.

Now, I screen the mothers as much as I screen the children when they come for an interview. I could have more children, but it's not worth it.

I think that's great! They will come down to our level and we won't have to compete with them anymore.

any job where you'd get disciplined or fired for saying "no" to those fruits is a job not worth your time.

So true!

Best yet of Japan is that we OWN our WORK VISA. So if we don't like one school, it's just a matter of walking down the street and working for the NEXT one! It's LEGAL here!

I'm pretty content with my employer though. I haven't heard many complaints here in Japan about teaching.

Most succinct, true thing I've read on here for a long time. Why the hell is Korea so popular when a) you are a slave to your hawgie b) you have to be around korean children c) you could live in Japan instead of Korea
