|
|
Hi,
The lovely weather of late as made me want to camp on a beach.
So, i have a few questions.
1. Does anyone know of a decent beach within a 2-3 hour bus/train journey from Seoul? If so, could you please let me know of the bus number etc?
2. Can you camp there?
3. Do they allow tents?
Many thanks. |

What: Deokjeokdo Camping
Where: Seopori Beach, Deokjeok Island
When: Avoid July and August - 10,000,000,000 Koreans
How: 60min. ferry from Domestic Ferry Terminal in Yeonam Budu
(Incheon Port), bus to beach 10min (Take the Seoul-Incheon, Line 1,
Subway all the way to Dong Incheon Station. Tell the taxi driver Yeonam
Budu Ferry Terminal. Make sure you go to the domestic terminal or
you may arrive in China somewhere)
Ferry Info: (032)887-2891~5
Abodes: There is camping on the beach or motels
Food: There are restaurants and supermarkets
To Do: Swimming, disk golf, camp fires, camp songs, camp sex.
Advice: The Hotels(Minbaks) on the island tend to gouge not only
foreigners, but Koreans alike. I would recommend bringing a tent
and a cooler. Sitting on the beach with a thick steak BBQing and
a Heineken in hand is mighty nice.
Call ahead or use the internet and reserve tickets on the ferry. You can
change the return times on the island if you want to leave earlier or later.

There's lots of islands around Incheon. I've been to DeokJeokDo. It takes 4-5 hours from Gangnam (that's subway, bus, and boat). There are closer islands that would shave an hour or more off that time. Check out this guys bike blog. It has links to an English promotion site for those islands.

You could also check out the beach in the town where the mud festival is at. That's supposed to be only an hour and a half away.

I've seen tents on most the popular beaches, even in a town beach like Seokcho, so I don't think there's a problem with camping. Open camp fires may not be appreciated in someplace's however. Some Koreans consider burning wood to be stealing. |

Gyeongpong Beach, Gangneung- 3 hours from Seoul Express Bus Terminal, about 16,000W each way.
When you get to Gangnueng Bus Terminal, just hop a cab, it costs about $5.
If you stay near the beach, there isn't much to do at night, I'm sure there are bars and stuff in the city though.
