Forgive me, just a bit more help on this please. I've actually searched the archived posts but still need some info
from the replies to my last post it sounds like if a recruiter says you need your original degree to be sent to korea for the visa stuff they are lying to trap you so to speak and you risk getting screwed and losing a degree. I dont want to get screwed and be degreeless. Although it would have been easy and to not have go through this notarization process
So It looks like I'll go ahead and get a copy of my degree notarized but I am NOT near an embassy which complicates my life, nearest one is vancouver. So I guess I'm just looking for the step by step process in this case. here are some specific questions if it helps to know where my confusion lies
1) Do I send my written request with just my original degree and a photocopy of the degree with $3 to vancouver embassy with a return envelope ?
or do I NOT send my original degree to the embassy and proceed with a preliminary notarization process...
2) Whats this deal with getting a public notary to notarize my degree copy?? I thought the embassy notarizes it
3) what exactly is a public notary and how much should I spend ?
4) But then i would be confused because doesnt the embassy need to see your original degree ?
or do I send my original degree to the embassy along with a copy pre-notarized by this public dude..
5) please tell me I dont need to send both the original degree AND a copy notarized by the public notary (hassle and extra expense here) to the korean embassy doesnt really make sense?
This post is getting a bit ridiculous - Thanks for the help |

I dealt with the Vancouver consulate (although some 5 years ago now). I went in person but people commonly courier the stuff to them. I think youre to include a prepaid return envelope also.
They didnt require notarization when I did it. They did ask to see transcripts. I took several photocopies & got them all done -- saved future running around.
Bottom-line: phone them & ask. |
