Does anyone know how to get bumped to business or first class for free? I hear people bragging about how they get upgraded all the time but they never say how. I think they are liars |
I used to get bumped from time to time, and I'd tell you how if I knew. The best advice I can come up with is dress well for the flight, and maybe show up slightly late, when they're realizing they've overbooked coach. |

had that happen to me twice in Europe on KLM and claimed the nice bit of compensation (500 euros)....wasn`t in a hurry at that time and the compensation meant it was like I had free flights .....all for a couple hours delay on my journey |

most US carriers charge a little less than Korean Air or Asiana Airlines for trips back to the States, but unless you are a deep sleeper and zone out for most of the flight, i'd suggest flying with one of them.
service is impeccable, drinks/food delivered with a genuine smile, and sometimes they are less crowded because the US airlines charge less and fill every seat.
*sometimes you can book a flight w/Delta or another US carrier and it is actually a Korean Air plane/crew because of seat sharing but the price is cheaper. that may be your best bet. |

The best airline (BY FAR) I have ever flown with was Jet Airways, which I believe is an Indian domestic airline.
On the flight, which was less than one hour (from Mumbai to Hyderabad), we were given:
-Washclothes for washing up
-Warm towels
-Bottles of lemon spring water
-The usual beverages
-An assortment of candy
and . . .
-A full-scale chicken curry dinner
I don't even know how they got all of that to us in less than an hour. The stewardesses never stopped moving. Plus they were ridiculously nice and treated us like royalty . . .
I highly recommend |

| I ended up with Singapore Airlines on my flight from San Francisco to Korea and it was AWESOME. Flight attendants were nice, very cool native uniforms, good food, free drinks and a huge array of on-demand services for my personal tv. And for some reason it was the cheapest flight on Expedia! I flew United to S.F. then Singapore to Seoul one way for $755 including all taxes and fees, about two weeks before the flight. Awesome. |
of all the carriers ive flown on, singapore air is the best. i might get flamed for this but the only people that seem to be disaapointed on the singapore air flights i have been on were passengers of indian decent. a couple times ive heard a couple indian passengers bitch about having their meal messed up or prepared incorrectly. hell, ALL the indian passengers that request an indian meal get their meals served first and all the 'other' passengers in economy wait until theyre served.
even with arrogant passengers who feel theyre entitled to certain standards, the crew always maintained their professionalism |
