Funny, there is not a single quote from Obama in the entire article. I don't know why he said nothing.

ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: For the second presidential debate in a row, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., came under fire for an Aug. 1 speech in which he said he would go after high-value Al Qaeda targets in Pakistan if the country's president was not willing to act.

The order of events is wrong.

There weren't any attacks in 2007 in Pakistani territory by the US.
Then Obama said he would go after Al Qaeda targets in Pakistan in the debate.
Bush then whined about it. Later on, McMoron piled on.
And then the Bush Admin actually attacked targets in Pakistan in early 2008.

If Al Qaeda is in Pakistan, why not attack them in Pakistan?
then again, after the incident this week, where we blew up 10 Pakistani soldiers, perhaps we should wait until we have better leadership in Washington before launching any more attacks.

U.S. Strike Killed Al Qaeda Bomb Maker

Terror Big Also Trained 'Shoe Bomber,' Moussaoui

By HABIBULLAH KHAN and BRIAN ROSS

Jan. 18, 2006 - ABC News has learned that al Qaeda's master bomb maker and chemical weapons expert was one of the men killed in last week's U.S. missile attack in eastern Pakistan.
Midhat Mursi, 52, also known as Abu Khabab al-Masri, was identified by Pakistani authorities as one of three known al Qaeda leaders present at an apparent terror summit conference in the village of Damadola.
The United States had posted a $5 million reward for Mursi's capture. He is described by U.S. authorities as the man who ran al Qaeda's infamous Derunta training camp in Afghanistan, where he used dogs and other animals as subjects of experiments with poison and chemicals.
"This is extraordinarily important," said former FBI agent Jack Cloonan, an ABC News consultant, who was the senior agent on the FBI's al Qaeda squad. "He's the man who trained the shoe bomber, Richard Reid and Zacharias Mousssaoui, as well as hundreds of others." Pakistani authorities tell ABC News they have confirmation that Mursi was among those on the guest list for the late-night meeting. The authorities say al Qaeda's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was also expected to attend but apparently changed his mind.

The US military may have conducted its fifth known strike inside Pakistani territory against the Taliban and al Qaeda bases this year, an unnamed Pakistani official told Reuters.

The airstrike is thought to have been carried out inside the Mohmand tribal agency. "There was an attack by a spy plane close to the Afghan border but we don't have information about casualties or damage," the unnamed Pakistani government said.

The Pakistani government recently negotiated a peace agreement with the Taliban in Mohmand tribal agency. Omar Khalid, the commander of the local Taliban in Mohmand and the representative for the agency in the Pakistani Taliban movement, denies links to al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Pentagon says US military not involved in Pakistan missile strike WASHINGTON, Nov 2 (AFP) - The Pentagon said Friday it had no information that the US military was involved in a missile strike in Pakistan. 밫here is no information this morning that the US military was involved in this incident,?said Bryan Whitman, adding that he spoke only for the Defense Department and not other US government agencies. Two missiles struck a pro-Taliban militant camp in North Waziristan, killing at least 10 militants, according to residents of the village. (Posted @ 19:50 PST)

The US has been conducting strikes in Pakistan since the war on terror began.

There was no reason for Obama to advertise it. I think he just didn't know that the US was doing it cause as a liberal democrat he isn't interested in national security.

OK then, so the newspapers who published the reports were not advertising that we attack in Pakistani border territory?

Sure, because conservatives know all there is to know about "Defending America"...

Well then, if conservatives are so good at "Defending America" why are we still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Reporting by a newpaper is one thing , the government or a presidential candidate saying it is another. Ambiguity is often very useful. The war on terror is like the cold war. That took a while. Anyway US could use some more powerful weapons that could knock out the enemy quicky. The Republicans are more interested in such weapons than the Democrats.

Of course if Carter never became president perhaps Khomeni would never of came to power. But that is what happens when liberals are in charge of US national security.

Going back to the topic what was the use of Mr. Obama's comment? Why did he say what he did ? How did it help anything?
