Tiger Beer (a poster on Dave's) has a knack for digging up old threads and giving them new life. The few times I've tried to do that, the threads usually die again fairly quickly, but I like seeing posts from posters who've come and gone. Interestingly, the board was a litlle friendlier 5 years ago than it is now...

Do you like seeing old threads come back?

(hey, I'm bored, ok?) Embarassed

I think it depends on the content. If it's a subject that is still relevant today then it can be interesting.....if it's a thread about something that is no longer relevant, such as a particular event or position, then it's crud.

I voted yes. Not b/c I'm interested in the content, more that the names of old bring back memories. Not memories of the posters concerned, but what I was doing then. Brings all the smells of those times back.

I wouldn't mind if the date would pulsate and alert me that it is an old thread. More than once I've started reading and had what seemed to be extraordinarily long deja vu experiences before I noticed the date of the post. Confused

I think it's way cool, to the point of being almost stupid but, in general, I have no opinion on the matter.

On the other hand, I think it sucks that I get to vote in this poll only once.

I like seeing the noobs post on old threads and not realizing that it was a topic from 4 years ago.

As long as it is still relevant, bring them back. This site appreciates it I'm sure.

The funny part is when someone starts talking shit about dragging up old threads, but then tells others to use the search function if they start a new thread.

I love it, especially when they contain some of rapier/junior's inspired brand of mental insanity or tigerbeer's patented stingyness.

I hate it. I don't care about the outdated opinions of long gone posters.

I'm curious to know how he finds them though - the search function hasn't worked for me for months. Does he manually go through all of his old posts?

I think it's good for us new to this. Hard to find things with the search engine as it is. Wish you could search just the subject, or enter a search word and get the actual page of the post, without having to go through 50 pages on a post for an F-2 visa question.
