Saw it last night at Yongsan...why they aren't showing it on the IMAX or digital screens is beyond me.
Anyway, I enjoyed the flick. Yeah, it had some shortcomings, like Liv Tyler being miscast, there being absolutely no spark between Norton and Tyler, Hurt not being menacing at all, etc.
The action sequences were intense and well placed to keep the pace of the film moving, Norton was solid as always, and Tim Roth brought a great tone to the film's antagonist, Blonsky.
However, unlike this summer's other Marvel blockbuster Iron Man, there is a sense of "been there done that" after Ang Lee's weepy 2003 interpretation that was way too heavy on the drama.
As with Iron Man, there are major hints of an upcoming Avengers flick that you don't have to wait through 20 minutes of credits to see. I think Norton and Downey Jr. will make a great onscreen duo. Throw in Tobey MacGuire, Hugh Jackman, and whoever they cast as Captain America and Thor and you're looking at a fanboy's wet dream.
Granted, that's probably 5-10 years down the road, but it's gotta get you excited if you're a fan of the genre.
Thoughts, anyone? |

I haven't seen the movie but last week some students in my class asked if they could choose an English name. When I said sure, one of them informed me he wants to be called The Hulk. Seeing he's a skinny little bespectacled boy I laugh every time I call on him. Sorry to hijack, just thought I'd share. |

I'm going to see it tonight. Considering I never saw the first Hulk movie, I can watch it without thinking about comparisons. |

Like all the other superhero movies, this one looks like another video game. Somehow the Lord of the Rings movies managed to avoid this and even the last Star Wars movie, at times, managed to show us CGI that looked real and was awesome. Spiderman, Hulk, Ghost Rider and all the other crap coming out of Marvel Studios (or whatever) just looks like a Playstation 3 game to me.
In fact, I saw a commercial the other day for the Iron Man video game and at first I just thought it was another commercial for the movie.
Part of my dislike of all these movies is my love of the classic comics they're based on. Typical of Hollywood to try to modernize those classic old stories. Give Peter Parker a nose ring; make Bruce Banner a fan of hip-hop; Capt. America will probably be turned into an Iraqi War vet rather than a WWII vet, y'know, let's make him more modern and relevant to the 18-24 crowd.
Nuff said true believers! |

Hollywood's not entirely to blame. The comics did it first. Have you read any of the newer Marvel comics? |

Marvel has a tired old formula:
1. Kill off superhero
2. bring back superhero from dead
3. superhero goes bad.
4. superhero goes good again
5. Supehero loses all powers
6. superhero gets powers back.
7. Superhero loses identity
8. Superhero regains identity
I like Japanese manga and stories better. They start, and they have a definite ending. They don't have to keep rebooting something to keep it fresh. They just start on a new project.
My personal favorites are:
Rurouni Kenshin (Jinchuu Arc is awesome. Too bad it was never animated.)

Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man and Fox owns the rights to X-Men. These new superhero movies are produced by Marvel Studios, which is how they're able to get the continuity thing going on. Probably not going to see Spidey or Wolverine in an Avengers movie. |

Iron man & Hulk are extremely similar. It was dissapointing that even in a rage, Hulk was given too much gentle humanity.
I preferred Spiderman somehow as Peter Parker is much more of a dweeb, so the transformation to superhero is more amusing.
But yeah..they are all essentially remakes of king kong. |

I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews for Incredible Hulk. Msst of them go like this: "Its not as good as Ironman so the movie sucks. Its better than the 2003 one though." |

Hulk sucked ass.. Liv Tyler shouldn;t be allowed to act..
LOL
Rurouni Kenshin Good?
Are you fucking joking? Maybe 1 or two episodes were good the rest was a disorganized clusterfuck of face zooming and prolonging of useless events over three or 4 episodes. Sorry I haven't seen anything descent besides couple shows and they were all Movies or mini series. |

"The Incredible Hulk" dealt with things from Banner's perspective.
The Ang Lee film dealt with parent-child issues.
Both films are good. I don't use the word BRILLIANT because that concept lies only within your own mind.
Stan Lee and Lou Ferrigno both appear in "The Incredible Hulk." I can't remember if either one of them appears in Ang Lee's film, though I fuzzily-remember that they do.
Edward Norton is good in this film. He competently portrays a man who is cursed and wishes for normalcy. Banner is a mix of "SCIENCE GONE WRONG" and "GEEK GETS PROPS," so whatever take you have on the Hulk's inner mind is a matter for you to think out. |

I couldn't agree more. I couldn't even bring myself to watch the first one knowing right off the bat knowing they most likely butchered it. |

MUCH better than I anticipated. The CG Hulk looked awesome, too.
The Ang Lee movie sucked hard, but this one totally redeems the franchise. Can't wait for the sequel! |
