Can anyone recommend a few "authentic" Thai Restaurants in Seoul? I went to one on the main street in Itaewon that was pretty good but I'm looking for some others. Are there any around Hongdae/Shinchon? Peace. |

Buddha's Belly behind the Hamilton in Itaewon was good for me. Don't go to Khao San next to the park in Hongdae. It's awful. |

I thought Buddha's belly's pad thai was really good. The portions are too small and kinda pricey. The soup they gave us was just.....weird. It was eating my kitchen cleaner |

After paying about 50 cents for pad thai in Thailand, I would agree that the portions are too small and very pricey, it's not really expensive stuff to make. |

I've been to Thai Orchid and Pattaya (sp?), both in Itaewon, and the latter seemed more authentic. I have never been to Thailand, but the people I was with lived there and said it was the best place in Seoul for Thai food. |

Buddha's Belly has Thai chefs and the owner sources his ingredients in Thailand (or he was doing that the last time I talked to him about it). Both locations are good but I prefer the one behind the Hamilton because it's bigger. MyThai has a smaller menu but some of the dishes are quite good. Pattaya's in a close 3rd place. The one near Hongdae is dreadful, and the Orchid one in Itaewon is also not great. |

For a more eloquent/fancy date kind of place, the thai joint in the basement of Seoul Finance Center (Gwanghwamun St., walk towards City Hall) is spot on. I think it's called "Little Thai"...pricey, but the environment is nice for dates. |

There's a Thai place in Shinchon. It's called Sawasdee. www.sawasdee.co.kr While it's not on par with some places in the US or even Thailand, in my opinion, the food is good. The Tom Yum Goong is probably one of the best in Seoul

I second this place. It's just across from Konkuk University. I went there the other week with my lady friend. It was very fresh and tasty. Not too cheap, but worth it, I'd say. |

There's a Thai restaurant called "Pataya"? You've got to be kidding. Well, it's fitting that it's in Itaewon.
I think that I just lost my appetite. |
