If your E2 visa sponsor does give permission for you to take a part time job elsewhere then does the letter have to name the specific other school as being ok to work for or can it be a letter just saying that the sponsor gives permission for the employee to work elsewhere?

Is it true that immigration needs this letter, a copy of both contracts and copies of both school licence numbers?

I'm pretty sure I've heard of people legally working at 2 hagwons on an E2 visa...

That was my personal experience (I did it AND it was through both the Seoul and Suwon immigration offices)

BUT

that also does NOT mean that immi hasn't changed the rules.

4 months left said that he talked to them 2 days ago.
My experience was more than 3 years ago. Things do change.

I recently asked to have an additional hagwon put onto my ARC card while my public school paperwork and placement were being finalised.

As someone already mentioned, I was told that I couldn't have 2 hagwons on my ARC card, only a PS and Hagwon. Last year I had 3 hagwons on my ARC, so I presume things have changed.

I too have heard the 2 Hagwon rule. I still think it is worth a visit to immigration to check.

When I was on an E7 visa immigration told me on the phone that it was impossible to get "permission for engaging in activities not permitted by the status of sojourn" E2 (private Hagwon), yet when I visited immigration it took 20 minutes, after I explained that I loved to work and wanted a second job. The cost was w60,000 and permission went till the end of my E7 not the one year on the Hagwon contract.

I was wearing a suit and a smile (no not birthday suit) in immigration, so treat it like an interview and be positive. Good luck.

Put on a suit,

I don't think there's a change in the law...I just think it depends on what Immigration officer you talk to...

this topic sounds great. does anyone know where i can get additional info on this, maybe something from an immi website?
i work public school in changwon and would love a second job for a few hours in the evening. what is the best way to approach this with my principal ( we get along ) or should i ask the board of education ( we don't get along! )it would be nice to go to my boss first with something that says 2 jobs is allowed before i look for another job!
on a side note, i'm in the process of re-signing for august if thats any help or hindrance.
many thanks!! it is well exciting to think i could make some extra money without having to do privates!

Sorry I can't post the links but if you got to:
http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/InfoDetailR_en.pt?categoryId=2&parentId=382&catSeq=&showMenuId=374

Click on foreigner sojourn on the left and select either:

Participation in activities uncertified for current sojourn status
or
Change / add work location

It is entirely subjective as to whether or not permission is granted so as I said earlier treat it like an interview. Their main concern is as to whether or not the additional permission would become you main job.

thanks mate. nah, no chance of it being my main job. i'd only be doing a couple of hours a day, 10 hours max extra a week.
gonna get my co-teacher to look into this next week.

great. just cecked ouyt that link. it does seem a bit too good to be true however. why don't more people just do it this way instead of doing privates? whats the difference ( except legalities i suppose ). My KT insists its illegal but she knows nothing.
i am half tempted just to go straight to immi myself or do i need some sort of permission from my principal? if this does happen, it would be great!
cheers!

The point of this thread is that you do need some permission from your Principal mate. If you read the 1st 2 posts you will find out what you need...
