This may be a bit obvious, but have you checked your firewall to see if there is any throttling (or similar)?
Secondly, the end bit of the "More details" section will tell you where the slow point on your system is. If you post it we can move from there. |

OK - also, it'd be good if you could post what the NDT test reports the slowest link as.
The Mac default firewall is found somewhere in the System settings I think - I don't use one, so don't really know how to configure it. However, unless some kind of throttling is going on I don't think this is your problem.
Did you try assigning the OpenDNS servers (or also 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3)? That would give you some information about whether the problem is with Hanaro.
The Mac equivalent of ipconfig is ifconfig - type this into a terminal and post the output (might yield some more info).
Again, don't forget to do this with AirPort switched off in case your Mac is defaulting to the wireless connection (though you can check this in the Network section). |

That's great advice. thanks. when I get home I will try those. I did try typing

| Change your default DNS servers from Hanaro's to OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220) and post any differences. |
I tried this and it didn't really change anything. ( i don't know if it registered as default but there were like five of these addresses total.)
I will try typing ifconfig into spotlight later. |

| With DNS servers, they're used in order - so if you want to try an OpenDNS or other server preferentially, you have to move it to the top of the queue, above whichever ones Hanaro uses. |

| hey dude. It won't let me add those numbers for some reason. I turned off the firewall but the speeds are the same. I am going to go to Yongsan tomorrow and buy Windows XP then hopefully it will work on BootCamp and then if that works I will call Hanaro. If they can get this shit to work I will go to KT. If they can't get it to work I might just buy a PC. |

The end result of a Mac user in Korea.
Even though Mac's are 'cool' They are hard work in Korea. If you want something that 'just works' get a PC. |

My macbook works fine...and I haven't had to d!ck around with any settings either.
When you go the the apple icon and hit system preferences, then hit the networking icon...click on built-in-ethernet
You should have Using DHCP checked under TCP/IP (Configure IPv4)
PPPoE=nothing clicked in there
Appletalk=nothing clicked in there
Proxies=nothing clicked in there
Ethernet=Configure - AUTOMATICALLY
Under NETWORK PORT CONFIGURATION make sure your Built-in Ethernet is checked. (Which it should be by default)
I don't get how you are getting shit speeds...as someone said you might want to hit up a mac forum. Hell, for all we know maybe your Ethernet port is dirty or broken?
If you are seeing the Hanaro IP show up (in system pref/network/built-in ethernet), IMO the problem is with their service, not your mac book. They are just dumbasses that don't know how to trouble shoot anything outside a Korean windows system. They mess up my windows pc everytime they come to my house because they don't know English.
Seriously, DO NOT waste cash buying XP. If you sell your mac, that is lost money, as you will buy a pc with xp OEM on it. |
