There seems to be a distinct lack of courtesy and civility on this board.

To all those of you who were civil and mature in your replies to my post, I thank you and am sure you are doing a wonderful job of representing both your respective countries and the teaching professional in general to your colleagues and students, and I thank you for your thoughtful replies, even if you did not agree with me.

To posters such as esetters21, oskinny1, and ttompatz, I neither think I deserve a "good swift kick in the ass," nor that I am a "Smarty Pants," nor that I am being a "whiny bitch." I was merely attempting to relate what had happened to me, and to try to warn others of a potentially disappointing situation, at best, and, at worst, a nightmare should I have accepted the offer and gone to South Korea. My intention was neither to disparage anyone, nor to invite immature and hurtful comments concerning my intelligence, maturity, or whether I am deserving of corporal punishment.

You might want to check the guidelines for posting in this forum., as you seem to feel both the freedom and the need to break them.

As to how wonderful and professional ESL recruiters are, or how noble and decent the owners of hakwons or public school administrators in South Korea are, one need only look at some of the posts on this forum and others to get an idea of what can happen to ill-informed and unsuspecting teachers who are sincere in their desire to go to a foreign country and offer their services as educators. Among those posts are subjects related to being "screwed" out of compensation, pension monies, fired before contracts are completed and not for cause, unscrupulous recruiters, unscrupulous hakwon owners, etc., etc., etc.

To answer some of your previous posts, I have received offers from both the Korea Times and LG, and am considering them.

At no time did I seek to misrepresent myself or my intentions to anyone, including Footprints, the SMOE, or EPIK, and I apologize for any misunderstanding, which is something none of those agencies or the people connected with them appear capable of, so it appears that I'll have to take the high road.

BTW, ttompatz, what right do you feel you have to publish my IP address and location? If not illegal, it is certainly an invasion of privacy and inconsiderate. If you did so for the purpose of informing the CEO of Footprints as to my location, don't do me any favors. I have already spoken with Ben Glickman and we have discussed the issues raised like gentlemen and fellow business owners and have come to an understanding, not that it is any of your business. Haven't you got anything better to do with your time over there in Kwangju?

So if you have discussed it like men and business owners you why did you start a slanderous thread about Footprints.

Strange isn't it when the table are turned and the other person gets their word in how much of a knobber you managed to look.

What's that on your chin there son? Egg is it? Better wipe it off then.

Yes. In one of his deleted posts he said he was going after them with a lawyer and was going to sue because he did not get a job. I think he found out he looked like a moron and has deleted them and will soon delete his other posts.

One of the few times that nobody quoted in full.

Although Googles web wizard thing might be able to find the deleted posts.

Well, Ben, now we have another agency in this alphabet soup: M.O.E. If the position was through EPIK, why did the interview with the "M.O.E." go so well?

The position was probably with EPIK & the MOE. MOE stands for Ministry of Education. Each district has their own, dude. EPIK stands for English Program In Korea. They recruit for several provinces excluding Gyeonggi & Seoul. SOooooo the interview with EPIK/MOE are one and the same Very Happy

This thread is all kinds of awesome.

It goes to show that people need to do research about Korea and working in Korea as the system is completely different.

OP, I'm sad you deleted your original post. The part about wanting to sue Footprints was awesome. You should probably research Korean law and the treatment of foreigners by the police in Korea before you come here. No one cares about foreigners here.

Hey Marc-
What do you not understand about a contract being offered on a contingency basis? You were offered a contract, and then your contract offer was rescinded by the offering party. It's really that simple. Anyway, I'm happy to delete my posts if you delete yours, and change the name of this thread to something not derogatory towards our company. Thanks.

Ben I would leave it as is.

A Google search would bring it up and people can quite easily read it and see that the guy is a nut.
