Do any other foreigners have a handheld Nintendo DS?
I've played some pretty cool games on them. I think they're ideal for killing time on the subway. Anybody got 2 cents on this?
What's are the best games/programs? I heard you can check your email, read e-books, and play person to person games using wireless internet, which is almost everywhere you go in Seoul.
I'm about to buy one. Where do you think is the best place to buy it? |

Buy it new or used, not too much of a price difference, but new here may be in Korean. The best thing about it in Korea is the "super chip" you can get at Yongsan. You buy it (and the adapter) and download all the DS games from the Internet. Then you have hundreds of games on file and many on your superchip in the DS (this varies with the memory size of the chip you bought).
New Super Mario
Legend of Zelda
Metroid Pinball
Tiger Woods Golf
Brain Age series
These are just a few of the great games |

The DS is region free, so no matter what country you buy it in, it'll be the same hardware. At worst, you'd have to set the startup menu language from Korean to English in the settings. |

I am just now breaking in a PSP Slim - I posted thread up here as well, but someone noted I may get a better response over in the tech thread.
But yeah - convergence media device??? sweet - it looks like it will do everything my stupid Samsung phone was supposed to do, but never delivered on.
Cheers!

Hagwonnewbie and Gajackson1, what made you guys decide on your choice of portable? As of late, I've been thinking of getting either a PSP or DS, but don't know which to choose.
Will probably post this question in the tech forums, but for now, Hawonnewbie, why are you going with the DS, and GaJackson, why PSP?
Anyone else, pros/cons? |

Sorry, Tommy (please, call me Glen) -
Mine was a very cool, very unexpected gift. I've had it less than 48 hours! For choosing, I would choose whatever I could do the most with, modding/hacking/cracking-wise. And part of that is what you plan on doing with it, too, I reckon.
You could probably try a google search for something like DS vs. PSP - may come up with a few good side-by-side comparisons. Or, try asking in the tech forum.
I will say (maybe unrelated) I have a completely buffed out Xbox, which I love. I'll probably have several more, and create a home network based upon them in Brunei.
Regards,
Glen |

I have PSP and DS, and I prefer my DS over my PSP. The DS is perfect for the commuter.
1. Just close the lid to put the DS to sleep.
2. The volume button is a slider and works instantly. With the PSP, you gotta keep pressing the volume up/down button repeatedly. It takes half a second to go from mute to full volume on DS. Probably takes like 5 seconds on the PSP.
3. The DS is smaller and lighter. Easily fit into a pocket to carry around.
4. The games are more fun to play. |

Elite Beat Agents is probably the best game I've played on the DS. |

Instead of R4, get the TT card, Made by the same company, but it supports the high capacity micro SD cards. |

Looks really good except won't they be rolling out new technology pretty soon? Not smarter to wait for the next new thing ?
But then again...it's only 150$. How much do the games sell for ? |
