While wearing heavy boots, hold the cat up by its tail so that its chin is resting on a concrete surface and then crush its skull with your heel.

Won't work. Cats frequently survive freefall. When they reach terminal velocity, they relax and spread out a bit and they are more likely to survive the fall. Drop them off the 5th floor instead.

I read that article, too! I can't remember the specifics, but there definitely (as you state) was a "minimum height" where their survival rate dramatically dropped off, but they had this amazing (all things considered) survival rate from extreme heights.

well i am of the opinion you would want them to survive in this situation - more damage to the crowd if a cat is rippin' along their scalps to get away, giving them new purpose in life...and they could be rounded up when the crowd is dispersed and used the following day...crowd control cat police or CCCP has a nice ring to it Wink

Can you explain why there is no other option please? If it is medical, naturally your vet will take care of matters. If the cats are perfectly healthy, and you do not want them, I will certainly help you arrangeto give them to someone who does. Numerous cat rescues in and around Seoul. Any other option suggests laziness to me. So, do elaborate.

By no other option, I mean that I cannot find anyone to adopt them. I would certainly prefer to have my cats adopted, but I feel I must be realistic. They are middle-aged and considerably overweight and they are afterall cats in Korea, and cats are not regarded favorably here. A look at the replies in this thread should tell you that.

I will contact you for help then. Thanks,

These are your own cats you are so casually discussing having put-down? For no other reason than you cant really be bothered doing the ground work? If you get on line and register with all the expat sites, you are guaranteed to find a home for them. Sure it may take time, but having them put to death is never necessary unless they're very sick.

I have a friend who found a home for a completely blind, incontinent old dog (very lovely I must add), sure it took a while, but if you're patient enough.....

Either you're a complete idiot or a troll.

I am hoping to arrive in Korea within two weeks or so. I am mailing my documents to my school in Korea tomorrow and then I will get my visa issuance number to send an application to the consulate closest to me.

I am going to Jeonju. But if you can hold out for about three weeks ago (I'll need an extra week to just get settled, I'm sure) I'll gladly come out to where you are and pick up a cat (can they be put on trains or buses???).

I have been waiting until I go to Korea to adopt a cat (I've been planning going to Korea for about two years, but I just graduated university this may) and my boyfriend and I are planning to look for one as soon as possible.

If you are willing or able to hold out, and if not, if you are will to tell me where you will be placing them, I will adopt one. No question.

If you shave off all their fur they look like reptiles. Then they can be easily passed off as Iguana's in the Pet Market.

Is that a rhetorical question ? There is such a thing as a wanted cat ?

I've always maintained that cats are the crack addicts of the animal kingdom. Total parasites like women or leeches. But even leeches have medicinal use......cat's don't even have a single medicinal unless you count throwing them into boiling vats of water. But laughter isn't really a medicine.

I'm real confused. There was actually research conducted to find out at which height cats could no longer survive a free fall? I don't even consider myself an animal rights activist but this is so wrong.

If you love the cat set it free.

If it comes back you can say you don't own it.

If it doesn't come back, you don't own it.

And if it doesn't, it's probably because the garbage can in the street serves better food.

I object to cats being compared to women. Sure, they're arrogant, lazy, self-centered, parasitical, sadistic, run to fat, indignantly demand affection when they want it and treat you like dirt the rest of the time etc. But on the other hand they also have their own unique personalities and can relate to others on a meaningful level. Also, they kill mice and rats.
