I have hana and it is good. No channels as such, just tons of TV shows. Some are pay per view, but most are free. I am just happy that my wife can now get subtitled doctor who Loads if free movies as well.
Cost is 9,900 a month (and any pay stuff you watch) and we got the first 3 months free. We have not watched any pay stuff yet. |

I have it, too. I have my internet, phone and tv with HanaTV. With the complete package, it's pretty cheap. I think I pay 40,000 a month for all three. If you go for a package, make sure you get a 4 year deal, which is cheaper. I learned later that foreigners can cancel a 4 year package without penalty if you are leaving the country, or moving to another area where Hanaro doesn't service.
I've had it for less than a year, and have already received 2 bonuses of 2,000 won each which allows me to download 1 new (pay) movie for free. Pretty sweet. |

We also have the Hanaro TV and Internet package. I think we pay 34,000won a month. They had some deal a month or so ago and offered us free home phone service too.
I enjoy watching the Western TV programs they offer, but the Seasons are usually 1 or 2 behind what is currently showing. At least I can watch all the episodes if I want easily.
Movies are what we really like. Old and new, a variety of genres. Most are free, but when new ones come up, they cost 1800won. Our DVD shop costs 2000won so it is cheaper and we don't have to go out to get them.
I like it, but I'm not a big TV watcher so if you're really into TV, it may not be for you. |

Great for movies...fantastic for movies actually.
TV series currently accessible for free...Lost seasons 1 and 2, Battlestar Galactica seasons 1 and 2, The Weeds season 1, Grey's Anatomy seasons 1 and 2, House seasons 1 and 2, Desperate Housewives seasons 1 and 2
24 seasons 1-5 are pay per view....Prison Break and Heroes are also pay per view.
Hell's Kitchen seasons 1 and 2 are buried in a Korean station selection somewhere.
Dexter was on there for a while...Seinfeld as well...but those two have recently disappeared.
Sports also....lots of old Pride fighting matches...K-1...WWE...soccer....Korean baseball and volleyball......and if you're a fan of watching Starcraft....well, there's that too.
There some regular Korean cable stations...but they are the KBS and MBC variety mostly.
We signed up last summer...40,000 base fee for internet and the DVR system...remember...it is on demand...you can't access "regular" cable with only HanaTV.
Good luck!! |
