Ok so i came to korea with a 30gig Zune. Thats the Microsoft mp3 + media player. Its pretty cool, i really liked it. It had a nice size screen and was very easy to use, but the screen broke and now i need to find a new mp3 player. I really don't know how to aske for information at the stores here in korea so lets see if you guys can recomend something. I'm pretty much looking for something with good capacity, i really like carring around all my music wherever i go, but i don't expect to find 30 gigs so anything at least 8 gigs would do. I would like it to play videos, and be used as a storage device. Of course the ablitly to be used in english is a must since i dont' knwo any korean. Thats pretty much all ask for and a low price would be great.
Any advice?

The sonys have the best sound, according to reputation and you can watch vidoes but the screen is small.
there is always the ipod.
iriver and cowan have good players as well.
mp3 players are overpriced in korea.

The Sony doesn't sound any better than Cowon, Iriver, or Samsung. If I was in the market for a new mp3 player it would be one of the three Korean companies. You'll pay more for a Sony with less features.

Check out a Meizu player.

I've been very happy with this player.

The SL is a newer model, and far better than their original offering.

How do you find the interface on the Meizu?

Seen a friend today with a small new iriver 4GB number which also had DMB.
She paid 120K for it. Sweet.

Sony is reputed to have the best sound with Cowon up there right next to it.
I'm very happy with my sony. Yeah the screen isn't that big...but I didn't want a pmp--so is that extra half inch on the iriver gonna make a big difference? Not likely.

Sony 8 gig is gonna run you a little more than a Korean 8 gig online. At the yongsan shops it'll run you the same.

My girlfriend has an Iriver e100--I like it.

I had an ipod before and the sound is very tinny compared to both my sony and my gf's iriver.

Meizu? I've heard great things, I've heard terrible things.

Which brand and model are you comparing the Sony to? I've played around with the Cowon D2 and I seriously doubt the Sony sounds better. Cowons are more versatile with their custom EQ settings. Cowon and iRiver can play lossless codec such as Flac and Cowon will support APE in the future.

If you're serious about your music, go and spend at least a 100k won to replace the stock buds.

It's a little sensitive, but like many things, once you get used to it, it's ok.

Meizu M6 SL - good things.

Meizu M6 - bad things.

Meizu really improved on the original M6.

Of all the players I've heard (over 30 now) Meizu provides great value for money IMO.

I'd say the Sony A818 sounded very good with my Etymotic ER4S, and didn't need an amp. Same goes for the Meizu. The Meizu price won the day.

The Cowon D2 also impressed, but when used with Sennheiser HD25-1. The synergy with the Etymotics wasn't good. Too thin sounding.

I've heard once you go over a certain bit rate, 192 i think, you can't tell the difference.
also if you put a lossless codec on a small player you are really limiting the number of songs you can listen to. I would rather use mp3 compression and fit more songs on my player.
a friend of mine replaced his meizu with a sony. he's much happier with the sony's sound.
I listened to it for a bit and it's sound was much better than my creative zen. my creative zen is much better for viewing videos though.
