(Note - the pun in the title of this thread works because salvia divinorum is part of the sage family and is sometimes known as Diviner's Sage. Thank you.)

According to the OED (etymology dict.):

"In Eng. folklore, sage, like parsley, is said to grow best where the wife is dominant."
