[quote="Czarjorge"]Where are the chubby girls? What happened to women who look like women, not ridiculously idealized versions of women?
I like a little belly on a lady.[/quote
A little belly can be cute- but I know what you mean I like the pin up girls of the 50's-60's like Bettie Page more "soft bodies" then "hard bodies" that's the reason I like Beyonce Knowles she hasn't dieted and exercised all her womanly curves away.
I like Scarlett Johanson too - she's very pretty It's amazing how ape sh*t a lot of Asians get over white skin- I am often embarrased by the comments I get from my co-workers over my "pale" skin. I often felt I was more olive toned a little paler then some members of my family (I am mixed race) but not as pale as Scarlett is... |

that's certainly your prerogative.
but I must take issue with the ridiculous statement of "women who look like women".
you mean to say - women who look like many of today's Western women?
meaning.. chubby women.. meaning fat women
'westerners' don't have the market for fatties cornered, you silly git. and no, that's not what i mean.
(and men for that matter)
because otherwise you are saying that a woman who takes of herself isn't a "real woman".
'takes care of herself'? are you a gym rat? super exercise enthusiasts always seem to think their lifestyles are acceptable for everyone. they aren't. endo-, ecto-, meso-. not all body types are the same. those women in the OP don't 'take care of themselves', they're job is looking the way they do. some may have other talents, beyonce can sing/scarjo is a good actress for the most part, but if they weren't smoking hot they would be supporting cast, not the leads.
Some Korean (and other) women may take exception to that... I am quite sure they consider themselves "real" women.
jackassery abounds.
and Jessica Biel for that matter also probably considers herself a "real woman".
and she might just have to kick your ass
i'd be okay with that. |
i'm sure most people capable of basic reasoning before knee jerking reaction understood that the women in the OP are exceptions, not the rule. and for the most part all their body types are identical. 'normal' women don't spend hours a day on fitness. normal women can't afford nutritionists to tailor diets to their individual body types. normal women have flaws, like bellies and big noses and assymetrical breasts. those are the women i like. real women. preferably with tattoos.
not for work...

not kneejerking at all.
though I grant the women in the pics are in better shape than most of the ones out there... there exists a SIGNIFICANT amount of women who are in either similar shape, if not even BETTER shape than the women in hte pics. (other than Biel that is, she's hard to top)
that is not to say these women are without "flaws". We all have flaws. We are human. Some flaws are more noticeable than others. Some take away more from the overall appearance than others.
the celebrity rag mags often post pics of these celebrities on the street, without being dolled up or photoshopped for some picture.
Many "normal" people that I know look better than many of these celebrities.
So.. once again, I take exception at your categorization of the "more flawed" segments of society as the "normal" ones.
No...they are not "normal".
They are toward the left hand side of the typical bell curve distribution. (or right actually, depending on how you set the curve up)
you are perfectly welcome to prefer to pick and choose among the left (or right) hand side of the bell curve.
Just please don't label it as "normal". The "normal" part of the curve is the apex and immediately to its left and right, NOT more than a standard deviation either way.
what you continually reference, strikes me as the one standard deviation to the left crowd... with some perhaps being 2 away.
(and just because American and Western European societies have gotten obese, that doesn't shift the overall bell curve nearly as much as you think).

Ya, I concur. I'd take J-lo at a pinch, but 5 shades darker with proper boobs. The rest look underfed. |

Bogey, on your own bell curve the ladies in the OP are on the right side of the curve. Depending on the sample so far to the right as to be on a straight line. No matter how much you want to believe they are the standard, you are wrong. Biel's body is sculpted by professionals, and as slender as some asian body types might be (ectomorph tendencies) they don't look like that. You're just being willfully obtuse.

very very very nice.
love the skin tone, the dark hair.. yummy.
and wouldn't mind it at all if she were less athletic and a little 'fatter' |
That girl is the spitting-image of my cousin's daughter, who was also the internet model for Addidas shoes about 7 years ago. My cousin never did any other modeling, and is now married. The story was that she was working out at a gym and some stranger approached her while she was running on a treadmill. He gave her his card, said he was from Addidas, and wanted to know if she'd be interested in trying-out for a modeling job. He seemed legit, so she went to the try-out. She showed up in crappy sweats, an felt stupid in a room full of people who obviously were full-time models and model wanna-bees. She almost left. After the interview, she was notified that she got the gig. Pretty cool, actually. |

well I don't want to get into semantics.. but maybe we'll just agree to disagree.
or maybe you just hang around too many of the negative standard deviation people.
one of the gals commented on my avatar,, that people in FLorida put up signs like that for the Midwestern walruses that hit their beaches.
She has a legitimate point. The Midwest is an overage substantially fatter than the coasts... and warm weather states tend to have somewhat less fat people than the interior/cold states.
I worked the door for one of the hottest clubs in the city for a couple of years, and I can tell you that each and every night, I would let in a throng of women who could easily compete with many of these "stars" in a swimsuit. Granted, those were "the beautiful" people.
but it all depends on your perspective.
what you see as "average" on the streets of North America will be considered morbidly obese dogmeat on the streets of Madrid, anywhere in South America... not to mention the streets of Moscow or St. Petersburg.
it will be laughed at on the streets of Quebec too! The streets of Quebec are much different from the streets of Toronto.
then there are all those Chinese who though porking up, have a LONG way to go.
so - it just depends on from what angle you are coming from.

Gisellle and Lima, being big time fashion models are kept "starved" according to industry standards, which still favor the Twiggy/Kate Moss twig look.
They could both put on 15 and be hotter than hell. I'm a particular fan of Lima's. |

| body type has so very little to do with beauty. i guess that's just my opinion though. i think anyone that spends a sizable portion of their life stressing about whether they look like an impossible ideal or not are going to be very insecure about themselves in general. even the girls in magazines don't look like girls in magazines, or worry that they don't. idealising body type is quite a powerful way of oppressing - crippling - a population. |
